    Default Huang Rong's miscalculation

Huang Rong is the one of the smartest people. Yet I feel she miscalculated when she let YG go with GJ to rescue Wu brothers. She was wary of YG's actions and knew he was not up to good. But she allowed her loved one to risk a big danger. She must had been aware of even without XLN if YG changed side, with his intelligence, Goldern Wheel Monk's power, and whole Mongolian army (She didn't know about other Mongolian mercenaries at that time) would more than enough to claim GJ's life. Sending YG along with GJ would only hinder GJ's actions. She could have sent Zhu Ziliu whose intelligence can said to comparable to hers and his martial art foundation is much better than YG. Most of all, he would have not back-stab GJ. But YG might have. So her decision seems odd to me. What do you think?

I don't think she could have stopped Yeung Gor from going even though she probably wanted to. She didn't have any authority to order him to not go, and she really had no pretense for not letting him go either.

but knowing HR, if she couldn't do it privately, she would've done something in the backgrounds

Leaving both Yang Guo and Xiao Longnu in Xiangyang could have resulted in a dead Huang Rong and a live Guo Jing, as without Guo Jing there would be no-one left in the city capable of beating them. Plus Guo Jing would have seen no good reason not to take Yang Guo with him. With the situation as it was, separating them and leaving Xiao Longnu behind (the weaker of the two) as a hostage was probably the best she could manage. Yang Guo would have to guarantee Guo Jing's safety, as a not-returned Guo Jing implicitly means a dead Xiao Longnu.

Did she really think that she could tame her without GJ?
Her health was not in the condition to raise arms. Wihout GJ there were nobody who could be a mach for XLN. Just say that she's leaving the city, who can stop her? Zhu Ziliu? Lu Youjiao?

XLN wasn't a beast yet at the point (haven't not learned the L/R technique). even if no one can straight up defeat XLN, they had power in numbers.

Xiao Longnu hadn't yet learned L/R technique, and in her only previous public display of solo martial arts, was close to being crushed by the Golden Wheel Monk at the conference.

If it resulted in ganging up, of course HR had man power advantage. But if XLN just chose to leave the city, there's very little chance to tame her.

But maybe given HR intelligence, she might come up with weird formation (of course created and taught by her father )to make her stay.

If YG really went into action with hundred percent efficiency to assassination process, I don't think Guo couple had a chance. Given circumstances were very much in favor for Yang couple.

Not seeing a knife coming at your back would be a considerable disadvantage, it must be said.

Actually, Wong Yung probably should have tried to drug Little Dragon Girl while they were waiting for the outcome of Gwok Jing's meeting with the Mongols. Nothing that would actually harm Little Dragon Girl...just put her to sleep for a good ten to twelve hours. I'm fairly sure that Wong Yung had access to a potion like that.

In reality HR had a supremely strong position. The only real miscalculation is how YG basically forgot about XLN in the heat of vengeance.

Given HR intended to hold XLN, not only would XLN not be aware (and she wasn't) she was being held to tame YG thus negating her from trying to run away but if XLN really did try to run away, even if she had better martial arts she wouldn't succeed.

GJ would have never thought ill off YG unless there very undeniable hard evidence suggested so. I can imagne how at lost HR was. Maybe separating them was the best solution at that moment.
