It's obviously that recent recall will drive the price of Toyota's vehicles down. If you want to buy a car, is this a great opportunity or a major turned off for you to get a Toyota? If I were in a position to buy a car, I would wait patiently and once the problem is fixed, I would shop for a good deal. To me, this is a great opportunity. What about you?

I was going to get a Rav4 and luckily I had not put in an offer. Right now, I am debating whether to wait for Toyota to fix the problems and get the car or switch to Outlander or CRV. Someone had suggested to look into Kia Sportage too. I'm wondering if anyone here own a Sportage or Outlander? Please share your experience.

The Daily Planet folks interviewed a guy at Consumer Reports who said that sticky gas pedals were not that unusual on many brands of vehicles. I've experienced it several times in my life. The causes were a floor mat snagging the gas pedal, or slush and muck tracked in during the winter and partly freezing things. This case seems to be a faulty assembly made by a US mfr. Good old 'low bidder syndrome'.

If I lived in a place where car and gas prices as well as other auxiliary costs (e.g. parking fees, etc) are high and where -- at the same time -- public transportation is safe, varied, reliable and comparatively cheaper, I would be completely happy to give up on one of the greatest things in your life.

I own a 09 Camry, and I have not experienced any problems with it. I never had issue with the floor mat, in fact I actually have another all-weather mat on top of the original one.

My friend that owns a Tundra also said he never had problems with his. I'm not exactly sure what's the next step, but when I go to the dealer next time I will ask around.

This news can be bad for US suppliers because Toyota might switch back to Japan-based supplier. I'm wondering if the supplier at fault will (or already has) file for bankruptcy. NHTSA will also be on Toyota's back for a while now.

Whatever it is, I'm sure Toyota will bounce back even it might take long time. Hopefully they will go back to their old self, quality>>>quantity. Auto-manufacturers these days are so demanding, all they want to do is make big profit as quick as possible (they always want to reduce time to develop the new models).

i think in general toyota owners are usually very happy with their cars. it just seems like a fluke problem that is costing toyota big money. i do hope they get the problem fixed soon because this whole situation puts a lot of people out of work at least temporarily.

Toyota will face a congressional committee where much sanctimonious BS will be spouted and many questions asked. Two questions will not. Why did the NHTSA take so long to act, and what did its oversight committee know about it?
A farce is about to take place.

the americans are drooling over this opportunity, ford sales have doubled since the first recall announcement came out and politicians are gleefully taking potshots at them, all in all toyota sales will be down for a while and then pick up once again when people realize a faulty Toyota is still better than most other american cars out there

I think the price will drop sharply soon (Like 15%-30%). It will be a good opportunity to get a good deal on Toyota vehicles. If I were you, I would wait patiently for the price to drop. Good luck to you.

toyota might have more sales as they get over their recall troubles, but i seriously doubt they're going to degrade their brand even further by reducing their starting price point.

I think I have read that in China (now #1 in car sales) the car insurance companies are increasing the rates up to a 40% hike if they own a toyota. That may hurt. -source chinadaily

Such place is very very hard to find these days
It's indeed pretty dangerous to take public transportation at night. It's not that safe during the day either.

As population grows so does poverty and crimes. The world is becoming more dangerous everyday.

actually, in many metropolitan areas, plainclothes officers ride the trains at night. plus, they're usually lit areas with lots of people around and cameras everywhere. in all the places where i've taken the subway (nyc, boston, dc, and rome), i think i'd rather take those at night than have to deal with crazy drivers speeding and swerving in and out of lanes.
