Default Feng Shui: Really Promotes Harmony or Crock of Monkey Poo?

This stems from the recent story about some crazy billionairess' feng shui friend wanting to inherit all her money.

Do you think moving some fish tanks and plants around really contribute to harmony or luck? I believe it gives people peace of mind, but has no value whatsoever. It's not even on par with karma (do good and good will come). I just don't see how having a chair face east instead of south will have any effect whatsoever in my life, except perhaps adding the inconvenience of moving furniture around.

If Feng Shui really worked, we'd all be billionaires.

I personally don't believe in Feng Shui at all but my dad and one of my old friends does. My friend's family moved several times because they claimed that the other houses that they lived in had bad Feng Shui and gave them bad luck. My dad had our house built a certain way to provide good Feng Shui which I didn't think made a big difference at all...

I've heard that feng shui was originally genuine, and concerned the siting of settlements rather than individual buildings. Near water but not too close to avoid floods, with a hill nearby for protection or shelter, etc. The mystical sort is crap, and only works for the placebo effect.

To truly answer this question, I must first know: what is the comparative utility of a crock of monkey poo?

It makes a good fertilizer. It's good for chucking at people you don't like. Beyond that, however, it would seem to me that a crock of monkey poo has very limited value.

Feng shui originally was just common sense, then the tofu eating arsehats abused it, and it's game over.

Feng Shui is similar to palmistry, face reading, horoscope, astrology, tarot, and etc. I agree that it's mostly placebo effect, it can motivate and provide confidence, but at the same time, over indulgence would create negative effect to daily way of life.

I haven't seen the powers of Feng Shui yet, hence I don't dismiss its credibility.

I believe that the popularity of Feng Shui has increased to the extent that the westerners are starting to embrace it.

It could be a farce, but when a person demands huge success for his life, he or she will definitely leave no stone unturned.

The popularity thing is a good point.

But now, how many of those fengshui masters are for real? If it is that popular, it just means an additional channel for money-making which will again point to unscrupulous cheats. That in return could make fengshui look like a crock of monkey poo that's senseless, stupid and false.

there had been many 'effects' attributed to fengshui ~ and i think there is a genuine study on it, just like...probability and statistics. however pratitioners of fengshui may or may not be 'genuine' as there are many 'crooks' around out to swindle people.

although personally i do not subscribed to it since we are called to place our beliefs only in God, and 'nothing else' ~ in the field of 'faith'.

    That's a bingo.

Ancient Feng Shui - common sense stuff in today, explained by science and logic. Current version of Feng Shui - only works as a placebo.

I suspect the harmony effect is just a coincidence....

Anyway, feng shui and any similar monkey stunts are beliefs which I can't/shouldn't believe.

You may not believe in them or like them the slightest but you don't have to insult them as such either. There are many things in this world that we cannot understand or fully grasp.

I know you hold a torch for me for a long, long time. That should explain why you subsciously find love from taking notice of nearly everything I post and quote me as soon as possible. Even when I had posted something out of humour.

P/s: Not everything I post without a smiley face means I'm in serious mode. At most times, I'm not and just lazy to add on a smiley - that's all.

Hmmm, it must be the fengshui, since this triangle had been existing for the longest time. not that i dislike it though.

yes, triangles have bad fengshui because the energy gets stuck in the corners. better to have a big circle!
