Default Lady Yeung - what was up with the music and dancing crap?

One of the biggest jokes in HSDS was how those descendants of the Ancient Tomb Sect, led by the yellow-robed Lady Yeung, often came to the rescue too late because they waste too much time with music and dancing before finally showing up.

Well, yeah...what the hell was UP with that? There wasn't some long tradition of music and dance in the Ancient Tomb Sect. Lam Chiu Ying never mentioned any music/dance traditions for her sect. Yeung Gor and Little Dragon Girl's thing was honeybees, ice beds, ribbons, Heavy Iron Swords, and Divine Condors. Music and dancing were NEVER a part of their motif.

So where did the the band and the dance troupe suddenly come from? These things weren't associated with the Ancient Tomb Sect at all during ROCH.

This is also the thing puzzling me for long time. Could it be Yang Guo who has the idea to create a 'chamber music' room in the cold Ancient Tomb.

He never exhibited any special interest in or talent for music before.

Incorrect - Little Dragon Girl was a guqin player. In fact, her first appearance in the novel was not in person, but via the sounds of her qin, when she drove away the invaders with the Jade bees. She also played for the young Yang Guo occasionally. It was said later that she learnt from music manuals left behind by the Ancient Tomb founder, so Lin Chaoying was a player too.

Furthermore, during her first fight with the Gold Wheel Monk, she was said to have incorporated musical elements into her weapon (the long cloth with an embedded bell at the end), though GJ and HR thought that she was far inferior to the greats in the three-way music competition at Peach Blossom island.

Aha, I remember that part. Hmm.. this is my another example of never under estimated a quite girl who know she is a Guqin player.

    simple!
all the qin and flute thingies were all due to xiao long nv's and her descendents' innate addiction to stroking something and blowing something.

You mean plucking and pressing. Gah...

To be less frivolous, other than the Goo-Cum (mwahahahaha) that Siew Long Noie plays, there is also the Yuk Siew Gim Faat that Yeung Gor learnt. She, on the other hand, doesn't seem to use anything other than her bare hands. Maybe she should have chopped off an arm and used Ngam Yin Zheung?
