Finally saw Running on Karma. The "revelation" is a homage to (though less refined than) a famous scene in JY universe.

    click to show/hide spoilers
the theme is "we can't keep the vicious cycle of violence, let's realize it and stop it and become friends with our enemy". You can figure out which scene that is.

Always wished a smart *** would use that reason.

Like, "Ok, lemme kill him real quick, then I'm good to start living by that rule".

See how Yideng likes it if GWM slaughters everyone then says "PAUSE! No more revenge starting now!".

Cheng Kun kind of used it and even fooled the Saint of Enlightenment Reverend Kongjian.

That's kinda how Qiu Qian Ren played. Though he did show commitment by becoming a monk. Unfortunately, GWM is already a monk.

Guess it settles that women are more important than brothers! Could you imagine any protagonist not making an effort to see their lover for even a year?
As the saying goes, woman is like a garment. Could you go without clothing for a year? You'd freeze to death.

Can't argue with that. You could make do without an arm...but without clothes it's even tougher!

Buddhism in wuxia is just too complicated.

They're supposed to not affect worldly affairs, but obviously not possible if they're one of the major sects. If they believe in karma, how can they defend/avenge anything that happens? Perhaps in a previous life a hero/villain did the opposite things and they are benefiting/suffering in this life. Just much too confusing.

As a kid it was much easier to just think of those monks as people who didn't kill and prevented killing, but it gets so murky when in reality they're just supposed to be indifferent.

Is Buddha from Journey to the West the same Buddha from history? Was he that powerful?
According to wikipedia https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gautama_Buddha, Buddha passed away at the age of 80. He was like other human being, not immortal.

It doesn't offer the same tongue-in-cheek LAFF value as "Divine Farmer's Union."

That's a very good question. I think Tse Hiu Fung and Yin 13 must have been dueling again at that moment.

I don't know about that Buddha, but that monkey and pig were definitely the real ones from history

They were smart. Learned 72/36 transformations rather than Bixie.

Someone thought of a more elegant name for ARTS: Literal Troll.

Sometimes I really wonder if a certain person is a troll.

Buddha in fiction and Buddha in Buddhism are different. That's like comparing martial arts in real life and those in fiction.

The real Journey to the West was only carried out by one monk, no monkey or pigs or any other of those things that happened.
Currently in love with Bae Suzy...for superficial reasons.

    It's not as catchy, though.

I must confess, I enjoy being a troll from time to time. Sometimes as a literal troll (ARTS), other times posting stupid things like this and this. And of course the SWORD GOD Zhuo Bufan and other hyperbolized ELOCs thing.

Just trying to have fun, though perhaps at the forum's expense.
