Muslims wittingly or unwittingly wear football jerseys which display images of crosses, liquor brands and devils.
Johor Religious Council adviser Datuk Nooh Gadot, according to a KOSMO! report, said wearing such jerseys were forbidden in Islam.
“It is as if Muslims are worshipping and exalting the symbols of other religions. Islam does not compromise on this matter, regardless of whether it is worn for fun, fashion or sport,” he said.
Perak Mufti Tan Sri Harussani Zakaria, who agreed with Nooh, said although Islam did not forbid its followers from participating in sports or dressing up, it has to be done within the boundaries of Islamic law.
Among the football teams whose crests carry images of the cross are Brazil, Portugal, Serbia, Barcelona and Norway, while Manchester United carries the “Red Devil” slogan on its team crest.

Here we go again, Malaysia Boleh. This from the country which banned the movie "daredevil" because it contained the word "devil", without bothering to look up a dictionary.

im not surprised. i once bought a souvenir for a colleauge but apparently on the souvenir itself, it has something that look remotely like a cross, and then she said she cannot accept it because of this cross-shaped thingy design; something that escaped my notice actually. i wonder if they stay away from first-aid box too?

They can use the one with a red crescent on it. We have a Red Crescent Society here instead of Red Cross.

I remember one malay teacher in my primary school didn't want to accept a gift from a student because her religion forbid her keeping figurines (that's idolatry).

well the idolatry issue was also spread to many christian sects, and hence many of them declared that we catholics would burn in hell for our 'images'.

This comment is funny. From the comment section of the article.

I really would like to hear the comments from our Prime Minister who is a die-hard MU fan. What next?

Of course, we interpret 'idolatry' differently.

In fact, the catholic version of the ten commandments is slightly different; similar wording but different paragraphing which led to very different interpretation.

This with the faith of each country. People always want to be able to integrate their faith into all aspects of life.

The so called FAITH causes more harm than good. How wonderful the world would be without religions?
