Noble Peace Prize is a joke. It's highly political motivated.
He is in jail for his full 11 years sentence.
I bet the chinese government will not kowtow to west and release him early.

The Chinese government may not kowtow to the west, but they sure as hell throw one helluva temper tantrum like a 2 year old.

China even created their own version of the Nobel Peace Prize to counter this nomination. It's call the Confucius Peace Prize.

It's sort of a joke, though. The rest of the world doesn't take it seriously.

China has a long way to go in the PR/propaganda department. If it wants to play with the big boys it needs to learn how to do that properly.

The PRC was doing a great job of it through the 2008 Olympics. I think after that was over, they just stopped caring.

I think it's more a matter of the 2008 Olympics being managed by an "A-Team," which probably included large numbers of international consultants. This whole "Confucius Prize" deal, which was done to *spite* the West, was probably handled by a "B-Team" that didn't consult with any international experts.

I think after the 2008 Olympics, the PRC thought that they had come into their own. 2009 showed that though they have grown more powerful, it doesn't mean that they can do whatever they want, they still have to work and listen to other opinions in the world.

They must have created that title from the acronym of the CPP (Communist People Party).
