The text says that Sek Por Tin jumped over the ocean...not that he jumped across the *entire* expanse of the ocean. If someone jumps over a 1-meter span of ocean, that's still technically jumping over the ocean.

This sounds like one of PJ's ARTS jokes, but when you really think about it, it sort of works.

The ocean is part of earth, earth is part of the Milky Way, and the Milky Way is part of the universe. So SPT technically jumped over the universe.

In fact, many of these wuxia hyperboles begin to make much more sense when you consider them this way.

Yeah and in fact, anyone who's ever jumped, has jumped over the universe.

But still, jumping over the ocean (TM) sounds cooler than that of the universe. And you really have to jump over a part of the ocean to claim that, whereas jumping over universe is too easy.

Yes, but you can jump over an "ocean of sand" and you could say you jumped over the ocean (TM).
