Default Wong Yung picked the wrong Great for her "Southern Seas Divine Nun" story

When Wong Yung fooled Yeung Gor into believing that Little Dragon Girl had disappeared with the Southern Seas Divine Nun, she fabricated the story that her own father, East Heretic Wong Yerk See, had once met and learned martial arts from the nun. For the next sixteen years, Wong Yung worried that Yeung Gor would encounter Wong Yerk See and discover the truth.

That was an uncharacteristic mind fart for Wong Yung: if she wanted to maintain plausible deniability, she shouldn't have used her father Wong Yerk See. She should have used her dead teacher North Beggar Hung 7 Gung. Dead men tell no tales. With Hung 7 Gung long dead, Yeung Gor would never be able to verify the story.

    Respect for the dead?
It would seem more believable if it were HYS, since you might not think that HR would lie about her own father.
Plus HYS lived on an island pretty isolated from everywhere else, so it would be more plausible for him to bump into Southern Seas Divine Nun who's supposed to only shows up every 16 years.
She also wanted HYS to corroborate her story or make something up in case 16 years passed.

Also, she said Divine Nun had a weird character and that HYS learned some fist techniques from Divine Nun. I can't imagine the old beggar hanging out with a weird old nun and learning fist/palm techniques from her, but HYS is eccentric enough.

But the story smacked of BS, I'm amazed YG didn't detect that

He most likely did know it was a load of crap, but it was basically "what he wanted to hear", so he accepted it with blind faith.

I'm more surprised out of the 16 years this BS had to settle she never once made contact with her father...
Currently in love with Bae Suzy...for superficial reasons.

Being able to verify the story is better than being unable to verify the story imo. The tale was elaborate and if Yang Guo did not believe it then Huang Rong's mission to save Yang Guo and repay some of her family's debt to him would have failed despite her best efforts. With another person that Yang Guo respected in on it to lend it credence was superior. It is only with hindsight / bad luck that it did not work as intended and her father chose to shun her after 16 years without listening to what she had to say.

But it also worked out in the end. Yang Guo realised the lie, jumped down and was reunited with XLN. If he believed the lie due to HYS and kept waiting indefinitely or kept searching for that island... (assuming the others did not discover her at the bottom of the valley; which they might not have).
TristeCoeur on Lady Yang: Someone needs 2 tell her that when u want 2 save people from being killed, u need to hurry the hell up, not play bull#### music & dance around. Her mission failed big time

well, if he figured it out earlier, then YG would have jumped earlier and found XLN earlier....presumably

YG believed what he wanted to believe at the time.
