China catches and eats more fish than any country in the world. 2nd is Japan for consumption and Peru (are they part of the Western media?) for catching. 3rd is the USA (for consumption and fishing). So, long line fishing probably occurs equally in East Asia and the West with East Asia consuming more of those long line fishes than the West.

So, China (and all of Asia really) benefits from fishing (presumably including long line) more than the West. Damn those Western media lies (or something).

Let me clarify. My original post in this thread did not dispute that China catches or eats more fish than any other country. Given the country's population, that is hardly surprising.

You see, my point is. _Even_ if the long line and deep trawling boats from China are causing more damage to the oceans and shark populations, the Western media is not focusing on these aspects. Why? Because the West does these things too.

Basically, to simplify my argument :

If you damage the environment/cruel to animals but the West is also doing the same thing - No hoo-hah by media.

If you damage the environment/cruel to animals but the West doesn't do it - YOU BARBARIANS!

Now, if this farm was in China, AND the West didn't eat pork, you can imagine how eating pork would suddenly be treated like eating sharks fins and dogs by the western media.
