How come I don't see Liu Xue Hua in these adaptations?

It said not too many people knew that Liu Xue Hua once Played RYY. It seemed that most people in Mainland China voted for the 4th girl Xu Qing (许晴) as the best RYY.

It seemed that DFBB was played by female artistes in many of the previous versions. Bridget Lin in a movie and Liu Xue Hua in a drama. The Singapore version is also played by a female artiste.

Both the 80s and 90s TVB versions used men. I prefer it that way. Rather have men acting effeminate than putting women in the role. Exception for Brigitte Lin, because she's so awesomely badass.

The director for SOD is a lady! She is Hu Yi Juan 胡意涓, based in Taiwan.

According to her weibo, her representative works include: Love in the City 2 男才女貌2, A moment of Romance 天若有情, Nu Ren He Ku Wei Nan Nu Ren 女人何苦为难女人, When You're Sad, Sing a Song 悲伤时唱首歌, Ai Sheng Kai 爱盛开, A Cheng 阿誠 and Suo Meng Lou 鎖夢樓.

I don't know her at all. Does anyone know her? Hmmmm, not sure if she can make a Wuxia drama though???

I actually preferred DFBB to be portrayed by a male than a female. Because, I couldn't really stand DFBB is a girl.. though he has become sort of "ren yao" but I still prefer they took the idea of he becoming a eunuch and act very girly/gay rather than asking a actress to portray it. Though is really challenging role for the actress.

I also think it'll be more interesting to have a guy playing DFBB as I really want to see how 'he' would portray the famous DFBB. Having a girl playing DFBB will lose out most of the fun.

After browsing through this thread, which is running very fast.
For the cast, other than YZ might highly choose a actress for DFBB (which I don't like the idea), the rest I am quite okay!
Especially pleased with Wallace taking up this role. He'll be the best looking LHC I guess. Eventhough, i preferred 96 Jackie Lui's version the most. Which he really protray very well as LHC. I think Wallace will be up to it as well.
However, I still want to have some opinion on the role for LPZ & YLS. Chen Xiao look fine for LPZ, however if Yang Rong will to cast as YLS with Chen Xiao, I guess it's so not match. I prefer to have Zhao Li Ying, who portray as Qing-Er for the new my fair princess. At least she looks younger and compatible with Chen Xiao and I find her very cute too.

Yu Zheng does have a funny side of him though. He said an artiste asked him the benefit of playing in a Jin Yong's drama. He gave it a thought and said: at least whenever there is a stock count of Jin Yong's dramas your name will appear. If one day people have forgotten you they might remember you again and consider giving you a senior role to play!

Yu Zheng does have a pretty good sense of humour, and doesn't seem to take himself that seriously (e.g. he has no problem with people poking fun of him or his dramas, just takes it in stride and even participates in it sometimes ). One of the few good things I can say about him, I guess.
