I'll say his is the best...because it's *relatively* easy and we don't really ever see him fail at this.

    yang guo's poison skill
Was he a poison specialist? He got a few tips from his adopted father West Poison Au Yeung Fung (mostly on *purging* poison, not on creating/using it) and memorized Lee Mok Sau's Five Poisons Manual (which was also Au Yeung Fung's originally), but I don't know if these make Yeung Gor a specialist in poisons.

    zhang wu ji's medicine skill
He dedicated the most time and effort among the three to his secondary skill, and his body of knowledge in medicine far surpasses Gwok Jing's in archery and Yeung Gor's in poison. Then again...how much is there to know about archery? Yeung Gor's knowledge about poisons was very limited compared to that of other characters.

That said, Cheung Mo Gei's knowledge about medicine was kind of half-a$$ed. He failed to properly diagnose/treat several illnesses and injuries, and made mistakes that his teacher Dr. Wu Ching Ngau wouldn't have made.

I don't think he was a specialist in poisons, though. His understanding of how poisons worked was limited, and he never had an interest in increasing his knowledge about this subject.

If you want to consider his secondary skill, you might want to pick "flirting with girls."

He did do that better than Gwok Jing or Cheung Mo Gei.

Actually, of all the side skills in the 3 books, I would say neither.
I'd say the best side skill is HR's cooking.

He was pretty good, but the undisputed champion of this skill was Wai Siu Bo.

I'm gonna argue this a bit. Obviously he was still way behind Hu Qingniu in experience but he was still basically the second best doctor in the whole Condor trilogy. Except for that inexplicable mis-diagnosis of Yin Li's death, I don't recall that he failed so many times. He correctly diagnosed and treated the guys that JHPP wounded, He Taichong's mistress, the Kongdong elder, his 3rd and 6th uncles (he gave them the wrong medicine initially because he got tricked, not because of his medical blunder), Song Qingshu (whom he basically brought back from death).

I think ZWJ did very well, even with the severe lack of experience working against him. He was well on his way to be a top 3 doctor in all of Jin Yong's canon.

Not actually a skill but more of an innate ability, Xiao Feng's drinking skills are unmatched.

“But other than that, Mrs. Lincoln, how did you enjoy the theater?”

Not being able to tell that someone wasn’t DEAD almost outweighs everything else. It’s so ridiculous. Just a minor bit of bad writing on Jinyong’s part, I suppose...

Absolutely agree with you. JY really screwed over ZWJ there. I think originally he wanted Yin Li dead. Then to make ZZR a bit more sympathetic and less guilty, he brought her back. ZWJ got completely screwed in the process.

I mean between the time her breathing stopped, ZWJ cried over her and then when he finished digging the grave, it must have been a couple hours at least. And she still didn't give any vital signs, something like faint breathing that top tier martial artists like ZWJ and XX could have heard from a mile away? It's really BS.
