Do you guys have any idea what that Gong-ish, reverse time travel drama is about? It looks sooo bad.. and the female lead seems awful at acting.. she makes me appreciate Yuan Shan Shan lol, but I wanna watch it so bad 'cause Rong Rong is in it :3

    YR's performance @ 38:13
Yay, that was a suprise to see so many familiar faces on this show. Chris & Fann whom I grew up watching, the actor of BaoYu from the classic HLM, Mavis Hsu, Yang Rong, Calvin from Fahrenheit etc. What's relevant to this page though is that YR was singing one of those rousing wuxia theme songs. She looks great, I'm looking forward to seeing her act in more badass wuxia girl roles actually.

And yup, YR looks busy lately. Lotsa roles in Yu Mama's films, eh?

Is she naturally busty like that back in the days? Or is this an enhancement? Either way she looks great. A 30-something who can pass as a teenager.

Hey! New fan of Yang Rong here.

I started watching Female Prime Minister because I wanted to see what all the fuss about the male and female leads were about (Gao Zhan/Chen Xiao and Lu Zhen/Zhao Li Ying). Initially, I thought Chen Xiao looked rather cute with Zhao Li Ying, but then their characters' romance dragged on and on and on that they put me to sleep. Furthermore, Zhao Li Ying looked rather ordinary and not as pretty as I thought she should look in order to play a character who could capture the heart of the handsome and dashing Gao Zhan. Pretty soon, I started favoring Concubine Xiao played by the much more beautiful Yang Rong, who completely outshone Zhao Li Ying in Female Prime Minister, in my opinion. Yang Rong looked adorable with the actor who played Gao Yan and I anticipated their scenes much more than the Gao Zhan/Lu Zhen scenes. Then, I followed Yang Rong over to Swordsman and found her Yue Ling Shan extremely cute and adorable. To my surprise, she was very compatible with Chen Xiao, who had previously played someone who had rejected her constantly in Female Prime Minister! I liked them together so much that I fast forwarded Wallace Huo's scenes and only watched the Yang Rong and Chen Xiao scenes. Anyway, I am rambling. I hope to see Yang Rong again soon, maybe in a role where she can reject Chen Xiao's character, as the poor girl keeps being cast in roles where she's being rejected by him. Ha.

    Another YR fan Welcome!

Lu Zhen and Gao Zhan went from being adorable to utterly boring before the series was halfway through. It baffles me when people rave about the series because of the couple when the plot literally goes nowhere when the focus is on them. It is such a shame that YR wasnt given more screen time as Concubine Xiao.

YR and CX were cute in Swordsman! That is, until his character went on a revenge rampage

    Thanks for the welcome.

I agree; there was almost no plot in Female Prime Minister, as the whole series revolved around the main leads' love. To make it worse, their love story was too dramatic that it was dragging, boring, and exasperating. A few obstacles here and there along the way are fine, but it seemed like Gao Zhan and Lu Zhen were constantly breaking up every few days. A love relationship like that was overly dramatic and tiring that I, as a mere viewer, was exhausted just watching them! It got to a point where I just wanted the couple to either break up permanently or stay together permanently (I was so bored by them that I didn't care either way) so that the plot can move onto another topic already! And yes, Concubine Xiao (Yang Rong) should have gotten more screen time as her character was a lot more interesting and intelligent than Lu Zhen. I felt like Lu Zhen would not have so easily climbed the ranks if it were not for her relationship with Gao Zhan, as she seemed very naive and with ordinary intelligence. Perhaps they should have created a side story for Concubine Xiao apart from her life as a concubine to spice up the drama. Or maybe Gao Zhan should have ended up realizing that he really loved Concubine Xiao and Lu Zhen was merely a somewhat look-alike replacement. (It certainly seemed that way, despite Gao Zhan's denials, since he suspiciously kept all the Guan Yin statues and even continued buying them after he and Concubine Xiao had broken up. As Concubine Xiao's name was Xiao Guan Yin in the original script, it was rather obvious that he still pined for her by keeping all those Guan Yin statues. Duh! Plus, he always took a suspiciously long time to push Concubine Xiao away whenever she tried to seduce him. ) Anyway, the only two things that kept me watching Female Prime Minister were pure curiosity about the ending and Chen Xiao's good looks and infectious smile. By the way, the women's hairstyles were horrible and the female officials' costumes were really ugly. I only liked the men's costumes (especially Chen Xiao's) and Yang Rong's outfits.

Yes, Yang Rong and Chen Xiao were beyond cute in Swordsman. I am not a fan of this Jin Yong story and neither am I a fan of the characters Yue Ling Shan and Lin Pin Zhi. I have seen the 1996 TVB adaptation of this story and didn't like YLS and LPZ in there. The 1996 YLS was not even cute and the 1996 LPZ was not handsome. I have not read the novel, so I may be wrong, but isn't LPZ suppose to be scholarly and handsome? Anyway, I didn't plan on watching Swordsman, given all the bad reviews, but I was curious how Yang Rong did as YLS and was pleasantly surprised at how adorable she was. And Chen Xiao was the first LPZ who caught my interest, as he looked appropriately refined and handsome. These two had awesome chemistry together. Their ending in Swordsman was a bit abrupt, I felt, but it may be because I haven't finished skimming through all their scenes together yet and just jumped to the ending. From the ending, I get the sense that LPZ regretted his actions toward YLS and really did love her. Correct me if I am wrong, but I think he really did wish to be with her and was horrified that he had accidentally killed her at the end. However, it would have helped if there were more scenes showing how much he missed her after her death.

Ah, well. I am waiting for the next Yang Rong series. Is it Yun Zhong Ge? She marries Chen Xiao's character in there, doesn't she? Phew, these two are constantly playing ill-fated lovers. I, for one, really want to see her play a character that will reject Chen Xiao's character, just purely for revenge and laughs.

Do you have the link to this interview? Why were Yang Rong and Chen Xiao cuter in this interview?

He's quite different with Yang Rong from what he's like with Zhao Li Ying, and even the stuff he says in interviews is different. There's also Yu Zheng's rather incriminating words.
How is Chen Xiao's interaction with Yang Rong different from his interaction with Zhao Li Ying? Do tell! And what were Yu Zheng's incriminating words?

As I mentioned before, I fail to see how Lu Zhens actions to climb the ranks are worthy of her becoming the first female prime minister. This series had so much potential but it failed to live up to its very promising trailer and pre-air promotions. I expected Concubine Xiao and Gao Yan to have much larger roles in the story. Instead we got too much of an entirely too dull romantic relationship between the main couple while occasionally getting short glimpses of more compelling characters. I skipped the last episode just for the sake of it and boy was it anticlimactic. They should have cut it short and ended it right after the coup detat.

LPZ did regret how he treated YLS. He did indeed love her and wanted to start over with her. I also felt like they could have spared a few moments showing LPZ reminiscing his good times with YLS after she died. The development in the relationship between the two was otherwise very good and consistent throughout the series. They just missed that last bit.

Yes, her next series is either Yun Zhong Ge or Gong 3. Her character marries him for power as far as I know. Agree! YR and CX totally need to star in a series in which the tables a turned between them

Actually, based on one interview (or was it a Weibo post? I don't quite remember), Chen Xiao said that there were scenes of LPZ showing sorrow and regret over accidently killing YLS when he was emprisoned, that were cut for some reasons. So yes, LPZ did miss her and regretted his actions. By the way, welcome <3
