Agreed. I also saw clips of her in Tiny Times (小时代) and she's just not that good of an actress. I almost would have preferred Angelbaby.

I don't mind the director selecting a new actress, but at least get someone that can act. Or else it's going to be like LYF, a mediocre flower vase ..... sigh.....

I love Zhao Li Ying but not sure she fits the XLN role because she just looks too happy

In my opinion Liu Shi Shi would make a good XLN. She has the looks and acting abilities to portray XLN. I would have to say she did a good job in 怪侠一枝梅 / Guai Xia Yi Zhi Mei. She showed us that she can play different roles pertty well.

Chen Qiao En would also make a good XLN. If you look at her acting in SOP女王/ 勝女的代價 she did a great job acting out her innocent / funny character which was completely different from her role in Swordsman 2013.

Since YG's role has been confirmed I guess there's no point discussing about who would make a good fit. YZ is pretty well known for ruining good stories. I'm just waiting to see what he's going to do this time round. I hope XLN isn't going to lose her heart to save YG LOL.

I also heard JinLunFaWang is a female and dressed as a male, like DFBB in XAJH2012. Because in this version XLN is not a cold person. She's more easy going. Or so it was reported.

ZLY as CX's mother is just hilarious.

The one change some viewers might not take kindly to is that of Zhen Zhibing, the Quanzhen Sect student who falls in love with Xiaolongnü and later takes advantage of her. Yu Zheng says he plans to make him very stupid, foolish, and adorable, and that the rape scene will give viewers a very different feeling. He is quick to add that of course Xiaolongnü won’t feel anything for Zhen Zhibing, since her heart belongs to Yang Guo and she sees all other people as if they were flowers or trees.

I think I'm going to start following this series because the casting just made it ten times funnier. Michelle Chen looks so awkward and confused in the pics, like she doesn't know why she's in the outfit and why she's staring at the camera. LOL.

Not Liu Yi Fei. She was never a convincing Xiao Long Nu. I never did get the ice cold vibe from her -- more like a stalled performance -- when she is supposed to act that way. Just didn't come natural enough. She may be popular because of her youthful look, but she is not the best nor the most memorable actress to play Xiao Long Nu. Maybe it's just me, but I just can't get over her babyface-like or teenage look. She is more fitted to play Wang Yan Yan than Xiao Long Nu, imo.

On the other hand, Carmen Lee was, is and will always be Xiao Long Nu for the majority of RoCH/Jin Yong/wuxia fans.

I think Carmen lee is to Xiao Long Nu what Jacky Liu is to Linghu Chong. I think Carmen was 25 when TVB casted her for the role. Unlike Liu Yi Fei, Carmen has a mature look and aura about her that she can convincingly play as someone's martial art master. At the same time, she also has a youthful beauty and innocent look to be someone's wife. Her hairstyle and clothing were both simply and very elegant, combine that with her acting and beautiful face made her the best and most memorable Xiao Long Nu.

But I agree with you about this new actress. LMAO. Boy, she looks like he most dull Xiao Long Nu ever.
