I don't love Return of the Condor Heroes, but it's still a classic. Praying the martial arts sequences won't be like Swordsman. That show was like poison. I couldn't watch wuxia dramas for a few months because after that, I forgot all I loved about those shows. After rewatching old versions I realized the craptastic choreography was just a specialty of YuZheng productions. And honestly, Little Dragon Girl's clothes are very hard to screw up. I've heard many people say she looks more like Lu WuShuang

Omg, you guys got that right. Michelle Chen does actually look like a maid like someone said earlier. I think that she should actually stick with playing sassy cutesy modern dramas. She just can't pull off these kind of roles.

How do you guys feel about Jiro Wang as Kublai Khan and Dickey Cheung as Guo Jing ???

Minus the swirly hair top, I think she's cuter than Michelle Chen (XLN). At least from these pics anyway.

Then again this is YZ production, the supporting girls often look better than the supposed main lead.

Guo Fu costume here is cute too. Colors wash together like rainbows. Not saying it's appropriate for Wuxia of course, but for fantasy it is quite pretty. LMC costume looks nice too. XLN looks the worse so far...

Wow. How did Yu Zheng manage to get Chris Lee (Yang Guo in Singaporean version) on board? If I ever look forward to anything in this adaption, it'll be the supporting characters. On a side note, Li Mo Chou doesn't look too bad.

I would rather not have a Korean actress as XLN, regardless of their mandarin skills. I think it's important for XLN to have a Chinese look, and from what I have seen of Korean actors and actresses, they tend to look distinctly Korean and a little out of place in Chinese productions. I can't imagine either of the girls Halcyon posted as XLN at all. The first one could pass as a Chinese girl if the makeup is done right but she does not look ethereal enough. The second one just looks Korean to me. Sort of like Michelle Chen with a longer face and no cheekbones.

I don't think there really is a "Chinese look" because Chinese people are just too diverse. Even though technically they're all grouped into "Han Chinese," there's still differences in appearance between Northern, Southern, and especially Western Chinese.

I actually know a few Chinese people that look Korean and have even been mistaken as such many times, by Koreans themselves I even have a Korean friend who 3 generations back had ancestors from China.

That being said, I do agree that language is the biggest barrier. It's definitely a necessity for the cast to build chemistry, so unless the awkwardness is supposed to be a part of it, it's better they can at least communicate.

It looks like YZ has manage to put in a few pretty/cute looking girls in this one. If anything I'll probably be watching for them, if I will be watching this at all. I still despise YZ for the butchering of XAJH...

Have watched the 83' and 06' version and for some reason i was more interested in Guo Fu and Yelu Qi than in YG & XLN

Mao XiaoTong would be so much better as Guo Xiang, but I think she's actually Guo Fu? I thought YuZheng said that he spent a lot of money on the special effects so they wouldn't look bad, but judging from the pics, they are still pretty bad. Hopefully the real thing is better. Swordsman was really bad and drew a lot of outrage(at least on the forums), but if he screws this up he'll probably get more backlash. There's a lot more people avidly in love with ROTCH.

i think you have it backwards...Guo Xiang is the younger one that YG meets when he's older/rescues as a baby. This one is Guo Fu, who is the oldest daughter.
