Story scenes such as when Guo Jing found all of his 5 teachers dead on Plum Blossom Island and all the evidence points to Huang Yao Shi;

When Yang Guo discovers it was actually Ouyang Feng who killed Yang Kang;

When Xiao Shi Yi Lang is about to kill Lian Cheng Bi, and then discovers that Lian Cheng Bi is actually his long lost brother who was thrown off the cliff by his dad;

When Qiao Feng hits Duan Zheng Chun with his Dragon Subduing Palm and yet discovers it is actually Ah Zhu, and then finds out that Ah Zhu had died in vain;

When Duan Yu's mother commits suicide, and Duan Yu is about to kill Duan Yan Qing, only to discover Duan Yan Qing is his real dad;

Ohh mannnn ... The Tragedy ~~~~

For me, the vote definitely has to go to Qiao Feng killing Ah Zhu.

Not only did he realised he killed his love, the wrong person, by mistake, only to find out later it was all for NOTHING.

It is really one big DOUBLE WHAMMY for Qiao Feng and the readers !!

Ah Zhu's death alone changed the entire tone of the whole story.

I would say that it's this one, because it was as much a shock to audiences as it was to the characters. With the other events, the audience saw it coming (dramatic irony) even if the characters didn't, but the murder of the Gong Nam 5 Freaks on Peach Blossom Island just seemed to come out of *nowhere.*
