Damn I definitely didn't expect Yang Rong and Hawick to have such good chemistry. It's not often that I actually ship the main canon ship so this is pretty exciting for me lol. I also haven't watched any proper wuxia in some time now (idk how much I would count Nirvana in Fire as a proper wuxia series) and I do love this genre so I'm having a lot of fun with this. And of course I ended up watching all the episodes in one go again...

If you like nirvana in fire watch the princess weiyoung with tiffany tang, she's really beautiful and intelligent in there. Almost fully subbed.

This is another one of these 'Two people love/like each other but won't tell each other that do dumb things to try not be near each other' romance plot that might lure some type of viewers.

There is a scene that is 'Dream within a dream', they are happily married/LOVE each other unconditionally.

In reality, they are afraid to show affection to each other and go thru a painful process to remove the 'strange branch-like handcuff' that will cause them pains if they actually love each other.

So they made it more melodramatic ...man they gotta to stop doing that especially for wuxia series. It takes away the hype from the adventure, fights, etc... new treasure raiders had little of this but was cleared in one ep.

I think ruby version they accepted each other pretty quickly I think, this could be leaning more toward the novel or just to get more fans annoyed and interested in the characters developing

It depends on what you're looking for. I like this series but clearly some others don't like it so I can't speak for everyone. Like I said, I haven't watched much wuxia lately so I haven't seen the recent Border Town Prodigal or Treasure Raiders. I'm also not that familiar with Gu Long, but this series seems like a pretty big departure from the book.

I think the two leads are doing an excellent job with their respective characters and with each other. The story is keeping me interested as well, it moves at a nice pace. As for the main romantic storyline, I don't mind the slow burn at all. I'd prefer that to something too sweet and easy. I'm pretty sure they do know their feelings are mutual, but they're better off ignoring their feelings due to the circumstances.

Also, from my understanding it's not the handcuff that causes them pain but the "solution" that they decided to take. But I could be wrong?
