As a Cantonese person, I grew up listening to Canto music that were in the normal male voice range. Then I heard the Taiwanese pop stars... It seems over there consumers prefer the super high, girly sounding male sound.

Phil Chang is a manly singer, and that's about it. You can't find singers with rich masculine voices like Alan Tam or Eason Chan over there.
