Wuxia authors often like to embed their fictional stories within historical contexts. Certainly, Jin Yong famously did this in the vast majority of his stories, and apparently, Leung Yu Sang did it at least once in a novel titled SEVEN SWORDS DESCEND FROM MT. HEAVEN. LYS's novel covers some overlapping historical subject matter with Jin Yong's DUKE OF MT DEER: both stories cover the young Emperor K'ang Hsi's quest to locate his father and predecessor, the Emperor Shunsi, but with very different motives and outcomes (with the K'ang Hsi of SSDFMH being far less benign than his counterpart in DOMD).

Other than this case, however, are there other instances of different wuxia novelists covering the same historical characters and events from very different perspectives?
