Agreed I think it comes down to directing, writing, and cast...I think there was tv adaption of infernal affairs but I like actors of series but movie one was more convincing...

Aaron kwok played chor leu heung. I like him in other roles but he didn't fit it for me he still made movie enjoyable.

Funny u got my older brother and his gf, little brother, and sister watching movie 020. Then watch series, they too liked series, but my brother gf didn't like series bc she was jealous of ZS lol. Angel baby is pretty too but I just felt like we we character felt more like she was in series, especially the scene they went to mall and played dressed up or introduced her to other characters of game at dinner. ZS felt more beautiful and elegant.

Actually, I also felt that ZS was more elegant . Then again, I sometimes disturbed by her being too skinny. Other than that, I love her mannerism and everything, more than Angelababy. I could see her as the prettiest girl in the faculty that attracted people's attention, while still being simple and a bit of a nerd.

Couple thing I hate is how the roommate MA xiotong, she cute but they keep saying she ugly. .. and Cao tong is suppose to be 2nd hottest bUT no girls are going after him.

And there should be more ep of them dating, wei wei actually helping out with apps etc and show more of 2 years time skip as well as least have 1 full ep for wedding.

Finally found a 1080p version to watch. When the show was airing, I could only watch the show in 540p and I didn't like that kind of resolution. I just saw parts of the movie and it got me hooked. Two genres of dramas will get me instantly hooked: 1. Asian Lord of the Rings knock offs (Ice Fantasy/DragonNest/L.O.R.D., etc.), and 2. MMORPGs adapted into dramas or movies.

Anyways, I feel like I'm one of the luckier ones b/c: I read that it's better to watch the movie first if u haven't read the book nor seen the drama, and my waiting on this show finally allows me to watch it in full HD!

They should not. I watched Sword Art Online 2 and thought Love O2O movie to be the superior artistic work in this genre. I'm starting to hate Japanese anime and movies more and more. It seems Mainland Chinese have higher IQ than Japanese. And it shows, b/c the works produced is an exterior expression of DNA genes. In other words, I think Japanese works lack the potential and depths seen in Chinese productions.

Yea I know what u mean. Japanese anime n manga all pla out the same, similar main characters, female leads, side characters etc. They follow same formula over n over. Look at pokemon games or anime lol.

I think China can produce season 1 of Sao and maybe do the fairy arc easily but season 2 wouldn't be interesting with gun gale online

I can see the fight in Sao look more refine using chinese swordplay and fit with the anime.

I actually been on hiatus off anime since bleach ended and started again past couple month. Been watching more slice of life or comedy since they offer more different scenarios compared to action fantasy genre. But they all follow same formula either high school or middle school romance, harlem, main guy doesn't know who he really loves etc.

I have seen the first 6 episodes so far in full HD.

My initial reactions:

~ Show appears to be a Chinese "Hana Yori Dango" which was a smash hit when it/they (seasons 1&2) came out in 2006-2007 in Japan. I would rate HYD a 5.0/10, while LO2O a 8.0/10 b/c:
~ Little nuances like the little story of the musician and bandit. You'll never find such things in J-dramas. It requires the writer(s) to have a slightly higher IQ.
~ Very lush game graphics. Did they create a few levels for the show from an actual game? I couldn't tell.
~ I couldn't really relate to highschool/college life in HYD as depicted in the drama. But LO2O made it seem like I was living a univ. student's life, even down to the things like what they will have for lunch in the cafeteria, etc.
~ These were the only things I didn't like: Real life computer geeks will laugh when someone tries to disassemble a whole laptop just to install some RAM modules -- it's cute but a little overkill; some scenes appear to be an advert for HP brand laptops. Lenovo could have gained some major advert presence by donating a few laptops to the production as HP computers aren't all that reliable.

Which one looks better to you? IMO, the LO2O one has more sophistication...


But not just in dress designs. I've noticed the same patterns for story, characters, and even tech gadgets!

The Japanese watch is fixed in negative display all the time, even with illumination off. But the Chinese watch switches from a positive display to negative one when you press the light button!


The Chinese product... always shows greater sophistication (and maturity) no matter what one is looking at. China... always bests Japan at everything that is done.

I wasn't going to write a lengthy review of LO2O drama... But somethings are better left said. Anyways, it felt like they didn't bork the movie version, especially not the main male character, just to make the drama look bad. Like how movie Xiao Nai was portrayed as... more heroic, more cunning, more intelligent, more handsome etc. than the drama version.

BTW, my favorite part of the drama wasn't the side characters KO and/or school beauty Meng Yi Ran, but how the TV show, unlike the movie, wasn't all about ways to portray the main leads as never holier than thou, I'm not the alpha male, she's not the alpha female, everyone else really matters or aren't betas...


Anyways.

Drama version: 3.0/10.0

Movie version: 2.0/10.0 (and that's being generous)


If I could choose between the movie version and the drama version, I'd definitely want to re-watch the drama again. As much as Angela Baby can act and Jing Boran was definitely borned a stud with perfect genes, they definitely don't have my sympathy there...

Chinese MV of Disney's Beauty and the Beast (Beauty [the Caucasian woman] looks kind of ugly; the last time I saw a good looking Caucasian female was Supergirl 1984 movie with nothing in between then and now so I gots no interest in seeing this movie; but Chinese MV still looks okay):

I tried watching this drama, had to drop it because everyone annoyed me with how they were playing the game. Gamers don't play that way, we bashed the keyboard when we're in a fight.

Main girl is so thin I almost choked when they said she was a 34c...really now?! Her gaming clothes are so ugly too. Why?! She suppose to be the most good looking but they dressed her down so much. Did she offend the wardrobe department?

The main guy is so frigid...i liked him so much better as Emotionless in the drama The Four. His acting is still subpar but at least he is good looking.

I haven't watched the movie version or read the novel so can't judge, just decided to pick this up because it was popular and short.

I might this up at a later date when I'm less annoyed with their portrayal of IT students and their godlike characters. Heard the OTP was very shippable.
