Default More Passionless Valley questions (who was in charge?)

From what I understand, the Passionless Valley was founded by Gung Sheun Tze's ancestors back during the T'ang Dynasty. Kau Cheen Chek had no involvement with Passionless Valley until she married Gung Sheun Tze. It seems odd, then, that after Kau Cheen Chek re-emerged after her many years of imprisonment in the caves beneath the Water Fairy Manor, the loyalties of the Passionless Valley acolytes shifted from Gung Sheun Tze to her. Later on, however, when Gung Sheun Tze returned to Water Fairy Manor, the loyalties of the acolytes shifted back to him again. Just who was in charge here? Why did the loyalties of the Passionless Valley acolytes shift back and forth between Gung Sheun Tze and Kau Cheen Chek so easily?

I don't think most of them cared who was in charge, they just went with the flow and followed the more powerful person.

in passionless valley, besides gongsun zhi's disiples, there were some people around the area who had contact with passionless valley and learned martial arts from them. GSZ taught all the disiples in passionless valley but QQC taught GSZ so everyone respected her. at that time, she was unoffically in charge(that's why GSZ tried to run away with the maid) but after she 'died' GSZ made sure of the disiples loyalty. when she came back, it returned to the way it was.

Default Why were the Passionless Valley people so quick to turn against GST and side with KCC

The Passionless Valley society was founded by the Gung Sheun Family during the Tang Dynasty. Therefore, Gung Sheun Tze was the rightful lord and master of that society through descent.

During the confrontation between Gung Sheun Tze and Kau Cheen Chek, however, the Passionless Valley followers were quick to switch their allegiance from GST to KCC. KCC was from the Iron Palm Union, and married into the Passionless Valley society. Any loyalty that the Passionless Valley people felt for her would have been because of and THROUGH GST. If GST had disowned and disavowed her, no matter how wrongfully, wouldn't the Passionless Valley people have sided with him instead of her? If they chose to side with her because they perceived that she was the more powerful of the two, then the loyalty of these Passionless Valley people really wasn't worth a damn.

What you described is pretty much exactly what happened in the novel. There, most of the people in the valley had no idea who Qiu Qianchi was so they would have sided with Gongsun Zhi. The problem for him was that he ran away when he was wounded so they ended up being stuck with her. That didn't mean that they were entirely loyal to her though, and when Gongsun Zhi returned, a lot of them ended up siding with him.

So their loyalty really wasn't worth a damn! 😃
