Default East Heretic's evolving reputation in LOCH and ROCH

For much of LOCH, East Heretic Wong Yerk See had a terrible reputation among the mainstream, orthodox heroes of wulin. Due to Wong's antisocial and often capriciously cruel behavior, most orthodox heroes readily believed the worst about him. They blamed him for the murder spree that his students Chan Yeun Fung and Mui Chiu Fung committed while training their 9 Yum White Bone Claws. They also blamed him for the death of Cheun Jen Disciple Tam Chui Deun, though it was West Poison Au Yeung Fung who actually killed Tam. They also readily believed that he murdered five of the Gong Nam Freaks on Peach Blossom Island when in fact, it was Au Yeung Fung and Yeung Hong. Though he was responsible for none of these crimes, Wong's antisocial attitudes and behaviors did not help his reputation. For mainstream wulin, "Old Heretic Wong" was a pariah.

Come ROCH, however, Wong Yerk See's reputation in wulin appears to be reassessed and rehabilitated. Perhaps it was because he was cleared of the various crimes that were wrongly blamed on him in LOCH. Perhaps it was because the growing heroic reputations of his daughter Wong Yung and his son-in-law Gwok Jing shined a better light upon him. Whatever the cause, during ROCH, more of mainstream wulin seemed to view Wong as the Lord of Peach Blossom Island rather than "Old Heretic": he was surely eccentric, and you never wanted to get on his bad side, but he wasn't outright evil and worthy of respect for his attainments in the martial arts and other areas of knowledge. Compared to his reputation in LOCH times, ROCH-era Wong Yerk See seemed to enjoy much greater respect.
