Default Best wuxia examples of pressing one's luck and regretting it.

What are the best examples in wuxia fiction of characters pressing their luck and regretting it? In other words, they have the clear advantage over an adversary and, as a consequence, get cocky and toy with the opponent, only to regret it when the enemy strikes back and makes it count.

My favorite: Seung Gwoon Gum Hung during his duel with Lee Chum Foon.

Didn't Zhuo Bufan came into the fight very confident that his peak of perfection with the sword could easily defeat Xuzhu but got caught off guard from Xuzhu's enormous internal energy and got embarrassed.

There are quite a few in XAJH, actually. Classic example is RWX was beating ZLC fairly handily, but felt puzzled by the fact that he was unable to absorb ZLC's energy, as the latter was somehow able to hide it. He wanted to figure out what was going on, so when ZLC started to pour his polar ice energy into RWX, RWX didn't block it and instead actively sucked it up. Big mistake!

Another example is when LHC helped out Xiang Wentian when the latter was being pursued by both the Devil Sect and the righteous sects. 'Great Yin-Yang Palms' Yue Hou of Hengshan Sect managed to subdue LHC by a sudden surprise attack, but then wanted to give LHC a chance to be beaten 'head-on' and so stepped back with the intention of letting them have a 'proper' fight. Unfortunately, during the proper fight, LHC quickly pierced both of his palms simultaneously, and would've been able to pierce all the way through to his heart if LHC didn't show mercy and withdraw the strike.

Honestly, XAJH probably has the most examples of weaker fighters beating up stronger fighters due to cunning or other instances. It's the rare novel where superiority in martial arts, in and of itself, isn't always enough to gain victory.
