Default 'sword' in book and sword

The book in 'Book and Sword' refers to the Quran belonging to Huo Qingtong's tribe, what does the sword refer to then?

I'll take a guess too then. I think it might be that silver sword/dagger that contained the map to that secret palace with all the jade weapons. The one that had one blade hidden within another.

I don't think so. They are symbols. The book is about ruling a country/people. The sword is about wars, often to get control of a country. I didn't make that up That's how they are often regarded as. That's the main conflict throughout the story as well. Think about the full name of the novel: Book and Sword, Grattitude and Revenge. It makes more sense, doesn't it ?

I think, book is referred to Qur'an , consider the novel tell about Uighur Ras , who were thrusted to be the first one brought Islam to China in that book,...which is not true !!

The Sword.....I think this is somehow link to the sword with the treasure map hidden.

That holy book appeared once in the novel as a plot device. That's not a strong enough reason to make it the name of the novel.

But it is the reason why CJL met the Muslims, which creates the firts half of the story.

The chapter in which Chen Jialuo meets Huo Qingtong is called:

"Returning the Book and offering the Sword, a Bond of Love began."

So literary, the Book is the Holy Koran retrieved by Chen Jialuo and the Sword is the weapon given to Chen by Huo Qingtong.

Symbolically, it is like Candide says: Book is the civil way of governing, while Sword is the martial way of conquest.

    I definetely agree with you.

But the facts that Uighur ( who defend the books ) were not the first who brought Islam to China is annoying. China got mosque a long way before Uighur ras came to mainland.

This story also got for someways a relation with the flying fox snowy mountain....which is referred to the Sword ...or Sabre ????

Yes, Shu Jian + Fei Hu + Xue Shan make up the Flying Fox trilogy
