How did people like Ren Woxing, Xiang Wentian, Chongxu and Fangzheng all knew that Yue Buqun was a hypocrite from the beginning of the novel? Did Yue Buqun do anything publicly to reveal this?

He probably did something horrible with JY forgot to share in the novel...
RX & XW probably thought most orthodox people were hypocrites, while CX and FZ were probably relying on their experience in judging YBQ.
RWX is way way worse than YBQ.
He was always a bit uptight and judgmental, which is often a red flag for hypocrisy.
The Sun Moon sect had intelligence on pretty much every other sect. They even knew that some sect leaders had bastard children. Given this history between Huashan and Sun Moon, it's not weird that they knew YBQ was a hypocrite. RWX actually showed some respect when addressing Ning Zhongze so he definitely knew about YBQ's true nature and was not just generally ridiculing them.
As for FZ and CX, they likewise also had reliable intelligence or maybe they heard it from FQY.
RWX is among the elite fighters and he will go after you even though you are just a beginner. You have pretty much zero chance against him. RWX will go after you if you refuse to kowtow to him. YBQ will leave you alone if you leave him alone. Regarding RYY, I wonder the loved ones of RWX's victims will go after her for revenge.
So YBQ is 'better' because he is less competent, what kind of BS is that? Did YBQ spare the Dingxian and Dingyi, no he eliminated them because they were in his way. How is that different from RWX crushing all opposition? Oh my mistake, the difference is RWX has the balls to do it in the openly, while YBQ can only do so in the shadows like the coward he is. It was directly due to YBQ's actions that lead to his wife and daughter's deaths, so I would say RWX wins hands down as the family man.
YBQ was pushed by external forces. He needed the Bixie for survival from people like ZLC and RWX. Without such powerful opponents went after him, he would not care about Bixie. He would enjoy his life in Huashan and minding his own business. On the other hand, RWX would not leave other people alone. He would kill them if they refuse to kowtow to him. I wonder why his victims family didn't go after his daughter for revenge after he died. LHC was an hypocrite for helping RWX. Because of his action, countless innocent people got killed. LHC actions caused more death and destruction than YBQ's.
I would say that LHC wasn’t clear of the realm politics so he unknowingly helped RWX. In the first place, he didn’t even know the person whom is was challenging / saving under the dungeon was a demon head. All he knew was that there was someone in that place who can to treat him. I would conclude that he was naive rather than hypocrite.
Like mandred said before, he helped RWX fight dfbb because dfbb was trying to capture him at heng Shan ceremony and he was protecting RYY. To him, RWX is merely an animal.
Did Dingxian and Dingyi push YBQ into a corner? Was Ying Bailuo threatening YBQ's life? Was Lin Pingzhi not a beginner level in martial arts? He killed innocent people because they were in his way to power, ruthlessly slaughtered his own student for being in the wrong place at the wrong time and continuously plotted against someone who was absolutely no physical threat to him.
How many people did RWX directly kill? Dongfang Bubai the man who betrayed him and Huangzhonggong his jailer for more than a decade. Hardly blameless victims. RWX even gave Tong Baixiong a chance to serve under him and spared him when he refused, which is more mercy than YBQ ever showed.
YBQ stayed quietly in Huashan because he was incapable of competing with the big boys. The moment he had the means to do so so launched his own bid for power which was every bit as ruthless as RWX or ZLC. And before you try blaming Bixie, just remember Lin Yuantu the creator of the skill never turned evil.
1.I don't know chinese but I think the word gentleman which was YBQ's nickname has two character. If you add one more character to it ; the word change to hypocrite
2.He was from qi branch and direct headmaster after head of qi branch(his master). For winning the the headmaster position they used dirty trick on FQY the best member of sword branch.Obviously peoples like FZ and CX knew about this matter.
3.YBQ was very proud and judgmental. He always acted like that if someone doesn't follow his line of thinking, that person is 100% evil.
4.RWX praised Ning zhong Ze.
RWX vs. YBQ. Who's more evil?
1. RWX is a ruthless killer but his killing is never personal. He simply kills because the other person in on the opposite side of him and they're in his way to conquest. He doesn't stab people in the back. He straight up fights you (though he does use dirty tricks if the opponent is stronger). He's very similar to Gengis Khan in this regard. Also, RWX never betrays or sacrifices his own followers.
2. YBQ, on the other hand, uses his own daughter to lure in LPZ for his scheme and leaves her to die in the end. His own daughter is just a pawn to him. He treats his wife the same. He literally stabs his own students in the back when they are no match for him, martial arts wise. He repeatedly tries to defame and kill LHC just because he hates his guts, even though LHC, till the very end, is still loyal to him.
So, who's more evil? RWX probably killed a lot more than YBQ but to me, YBQ is much more despicable.
I think that some possible explanations could include, for example:
- Yue Buqun outwardly preached virtuous teachings, but secretly committed questionable acts, which those characters witnessed or heard rumors about.
- There may have been early interactions or conversations where Yue Buqun accidentally revealed his true nature through slip-ups or subtle behaviors.
- The author may have written the other characters as inherently perceptive, able to discern Yue Buqun's true character based on intuition or observation.
- Small inconsistencies between Yue Buqun's words and actions could have raised red flags to those characters early on.
- Perhaps there was an incident or situation that clearly exposed Yue Buqun's hypocrisy to those characters.
Hopefully these speculative possibilities provide some plausible explanations for how those characters saw through him from the beginning.
