I think that how you do it when you writing the html for posting image

    ex [ img ]the image location [ /img ] *

But be sure the image end with a jpg, bmp or it would link it

as for the click buttom img

it just save you the work of typing [ img ] and [ /img ] *
while you just fill in the link to the image

*note skip the space between the [ img ] and [ /img]

I think you made a mistake manually copying down the address of the image. To save yourself time, right click on the image and then go to properties. A window will pop up and you can just copy and paste the address (ctrl+C and ctrl+V). Paste the URL within the vB code to post an image [ img] and [ /img] (ignore the spaces), and it should work.

Some sites prevent image hotlinking, meaning they don't allow you to link to their images to display on sites other than their domain.

Otherwise, before you post, you can click on the "Preview Reply" button to make sure your image URL is correct first before posting.

Most freesites (in fact I think it's all freesites) don't allow remote linking...

I run into this problem often. I need to create an HTML page for ppl to go to first, in order to display images, share multimedia files, etc.

You might want to save it onto your computer first than upload it and than it wouldn't be any problem!
