I'll try to reply but hopefully someone will correct me.

Q: How hard exactly is it?
    A: Hard yet flexible.

Q: What is it made from? Bamboo?
A: Bamboo, but with a jade piece that adorns it.

I am sure it can withstand ordinary sword slash/strike. But what chance does it have to go against the like of powerfull weapons, like GLFW's Golden Wheels for example?

Maybe that depends at the user internal energy, the more higher the more powerfull it is.. maybe..

How it can be hard, if it was made of Bamboo with a jade piece ?
Considering, Jade is very brittle material like glass and bamboo ??? Iron Sword surely will break it apart.

Is the bamboo stick and jade piece design from the adaptations or from the novel?

Purely speculation, but the dog beating stances have an underlying philosophy of borrowing your opponents energy against them. So, if this is used to re-direct the force back to the wielder of the Heavenly Sword or the Dragon Saber, it is possible that the dog beating stick would not break. Materials only break when their level of resistance has been overcomed. This would not happen if the force is being re-directed.

Since the Dog Beating stick has been passed down from generations to generations after many battles without breaking, I doubt that it's just some cheap bamboo.

during LOCH to HSDS era, dog beating stick was used by a lot of people.Among them, perhaps there was someone who never learned Dog Beating Stick Stances at all.

I re-read Noodles' translation of the fight for the Wulin Chancellorship in ROCH.

In it, "The Dog Beating Stick is definitely made of bamboo and is described as strong and sturdy, the length and weight was perfect, using the Dog Beating Stick to perform the [Dog Beating Stick Technique] can only result in an increase of power."

Forgive my silly question, but how come this bamboo stick did not become rotten/decayed/moldy after many generations?

.. because this stick has been dipped in special Egyptian ingredients... that's why you can also call it mummified bamboo.

No one said they can't clean it once so often.

    Cool Another theory

the bamboo is renewed/remade every generation: the secret recipe comes from the previous TopBeggar.

ohhh guys, what a very funny discussion about a bamboo stick. I think we should ask Jin Yong to spare time to write an index with explanation of everything that exist in his wuxia world to prevent this funny speculation. This discussion is just the same with - how come LXH never having a problem with a depleted source of dagger and always have one for every fight, this is just a fiction, just accept what the writer says, it helps once in a while

But that's the intention: to have a fun and nice discussion on every aspect of Jin Yong's novels. Besides, we are all nuts about wuxia
