Who Gave Jin Yong Novel's English name?

i was just wondering who gave Jin Yong's novel English names... because return of the condor heroes is a really bad translation of the real name in chinese.

It's either "Legend of the Condor Heroes", or "Condor Shoothing Heroes Trilogy". Which one do you think sounds better. lol

Well Return of the Condor Hero has nothing to do with the chinese meaning of Shen Diao Xia Lu

But I think that TVB does do a halfass job in naming their series in general

You're right, but that's what Jin Yong himself calls it.

Although perhaps a more apt title would be THE RISE AND FALL OF THE MONGOL EMPIRE IN CHINA.

Yeah, but it doesn't sound as interesting as Chinese in English. For example, it will be a disaster the name "Tian Long Ba Bu" "Sky Dragon Eight Steps". What an appealing name for a wuxia series........

i actually think that sounds pretty good...although i was thinking more of Heaven Dragon Eight Parts...but anything w/ "dragon" sounds appealing

The book I have names it as 'The Giant Eagle And Its Companion". That sounds nowhere near as good as ROCH.

TVB doesn't follow the novels, though - we all know Xiakexing as "an Ode to Gallantry", and that's what it's named in the book I have (almost), but TVB called it "Hap Hak Hung".

My novels have the following names, and I'm not sure where they came from - it's printed on the last page of the novel in English.

Feihu Waizhuan - The young flying fox
LianChengque - A deadly secret
Xiakexing - Ode to the gallantry (a bit different from what we know)
Ludingji - Duke of the mount deer
Shidiao Yingxiongzhuan - the eagle-shooting heroes

Eight Sections of the Heavenly Dragon

I like the english names given in the novels then in the TVB series... because they make it more exotic and chinese. and not Americanize
