Default Lee Ping . . . the true hero of LOCH?

When people think of the "hero" in LEGEND OF THE CONDOR HEROES, the first person they usually think of is Gwok Jing.

But there is one hero in LOCH who is overlooked. Gwok Jing's mother: Lee Ping.

Lee Ping was the one person who, more than anyone else, gave Gwok Jing his moral bearings...which would define and drive his entire life. At a critical moment in her son's life, Lee Ping made the ultimate sacrifice...took her own life to free her son's hands to embrace his destiny...battling the Mongols to defend the Han race.

Gwok Jing was incorruptible. Genghis Khan could not compel Gwok Jing to do his bidding and attack the Sung Dynasty with threats of torture or execution or promises of rewards. The only thing that could deter Gwok Jing was to play on his sense of filial loyalty towards his mother. Lee Ping understood this, and took her own life so that the Khan could not force her son to betray his morals and serve him. Lee Ping was a simple peasant woman, but she was as heroic as any of those who wielded swords on the battlefield.

Guo Jing is incorruptable because he is dumb...he probably really believe in altering rules = bad = hated = unpopular = life should not be so.

In short, he is frigging unflexible. I do not admire fools unfortunately.

Li Ping is a simple woman, yes, a daughter of a farmer she is righteous and all. In fact she forces her son to accept such conservative ideas about being faithful to the country (whom he doesnt even grow up in: same notion of do u pledge loyalty to your migrated country that you were born and bred or your parents/grandparents origin?) Simple and of course dumb.

NOW. BXR was born of an educated family. She doent suck, but she isnt used to hardship. Can you blame her? she was kind...very gentle. Nobody pitied her because she married HYHL? thats crap. most people are no better than her....so as for YK...hes a flexible person. I like him alot better.

    to arisa:

i don't know about that statement..."dumb =incorruptible". if anything, it would be the opposite...a foolish man is ready to believe whatever he hears. it's a testamant to GJ's character that he stands by his mom...true, he's a simple man but when has that ever stopped anyone from being a hero?

So did his 7 masters, Ma Yu, H7G, Qiu Chu Ji and others, no? YK however could be a protagonist, moral dillemmas are a beautiful thing to write about.
Burying his Dugu 9 Jian manual under an epitaph, Dugu Qiubai felt he has left his legacy for the next generation. He then moved to Shaolin to study Buddhism, sweep floors and tap elite fighters.

I actually think straightforward and not-so-bright people like Guo Jing are incredibly hard to corrupt. With a slow mind like that, he can only think within a certain square i.e. the simple patriotic rules that his mother and the jiangnan 7 freaks taught him. This doesn't give him any options for flexibility because he has never thought about disobeying his mother or masters.

Yang Kang on the otherhand is intelligent and he's able to weigh the pros and cons of a situation and manipulate it to his advantage.
