It's showbiz you need a name that flows off the tongue. A lot of people in the HK entertainment industry aren't using their real names Chinese or English.

andy lau, leslie cheung and some other changed their names... so it's like pretty common...

some they change so tat it'll sound better, others cause the meaning of the name

I am glad that they did, because their original names didn't sound that good to the tongue compared to their new ones.

Some people change their names because they believe it would give them better luck
Andy Lau Fook Wing --> Lau Dak Wah, Fiona Leung Pui Ling --> Leung Ai Ling)

Some people change their names because it sounds horrible.

Some people change their names because it would me more special and more easy to remember
Evergreen Mak Cheung Ching --> Mak Bao
Some guy called Bak Leung Kum (which I strongly believe
is not what his mother had named him at birth)

I agree that changing the names to become more popular/earn more money is good, but it's just that u been living with that name for like all ur life till u change it. More ova it's wat ur parents etc named u....

Jackie Chan changed his name from Chan Kong Sang to Sing Lung and I think that drew more attention to him.

But Jackie... never was popular in with his old name... while his new name where he made it big. (I heard the name is really good fortune wise)

But Richie is already famous in asia anyways, if he change his name people would still clal him Richie.

Also remember Prince... the american singer... who was famous before he change his name to a sign. That only got him maybe a couple months of fame... now he change back to Prince again.

This reminds me of jay and silent bob strike back... towards the end of the film... they got the rights back to their super heros and the use the money to fly around the world to kick the butts of all those that trash them online.

I wouldn't worry about trashing celeb... if they would go after those that trash talk them... most of the media giants, reporters etc... would be dead by now for what they been saying over the years to numerous celebrities. If they start dropping... then I could see less trashing on the internet on celebrities.

a funny thing occurred today. I insert my Flying Dagger VCD in my Pc and it showed folders of the disc. I clicked into one of the folders and it says "Copyright, Triad Productions"!
