You mean Yu Qiao Long and Na Xiao Ho's son? i haven't seen the adaption of it.

Originally presented as a newspaper serial, the novel Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon wasn't written until 1941, not 1935. But it is still a relatively older wuxia writing style.


Simon & Schuster bought the translation rights to all 5 books from the series, but none has been released yet. The books in Chinese (yesasia.com) are still very popular, though.


Yon, the entire series is about four very tragic love stories. The story between Li Mu Bai and Yu Xiu Lian begins in the second book, Precious Sword, Golden Hairpin. Though they do appear, unlike the film, their love story is over by time the book Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon begins.


For anyone interested, Yu Jiao Long was once a very popular adaptation of the original Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon.

How the heck this book became "Crouching Tiger HIdden draogon!"

Hm... I guess i have kick this professor who translated the book!

By the way, weirdly enough, the novels are devided in 3 sections in Korean version.

Unfortunately, the novel didn't survived as well and famous as JY or GL book, I really enjoy reading them.

Does anyone know which Part is adapted into the movie "The Sword" (1980) starring Adam Cheng? It has to do with 2 famous swords, Han Xing sword and something else - forgot

The introduction is mistaken. The first wuxia written by Wang Dulu (real name Bao Xiang) was Dancing Crane, Singing Luan (later renamed "Crane Startles Kunlun"), written in 1938, after the Japanese invasion of China (1937). Before that, he was known mainly for writing romances and mystery novels, not yet wuxia.


Gu Long thought a great deal of the novels, too: Regarding Wuxia.

Gu Long: "Wang Dulu's works are not only original, but they are in a class of their own, intricately woven and complete. While his most famous works [the Crane-Iron Pentalogy] are of the same series, each novel has its own independent story, ending with a well-written conclusion. He is the first to fuse art, drama and romance into wuxia culture."

Sorry, but none of it. The film Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon was the first and only of Wang Dulu's novels to be adapted for the big screen. The Taiwanese TV series was the first and only adapted for the small screen.

According to IMDb, these writers are credited with scripting The Sword with Adam Cheng.

The Korean title is "Qing Jiang Wan Li" (in Pin Yin.. i hope I spelled it correctly) meaning "Forever Blue River"

I will let you know once I finished the part 1. I am at book three. I am right there at where Liu Tai Bao was so pissed off at Na Xiao Hu's appearance in Beijing and Xiao Ho searching for his long lost sisters.

I've heard many times that THE SWORD is from the same novel as CTHD; so I wondered. FYI the names of the characters are as follows - ring any bell?

I found out that Adam Cheng plays a guy named Li Mu Ran in THE SWORD. Maybe he's related to Li Mu Bai.

Doesn't The Sword take place in the Ming Dynasty or a time before that? Li Mu Bai lived in the Qing Dynasty so could they be ancestors?
