FCY got attacked and was injured, fell of a cliff and survived as always. He then stumbled upon a cave where DGKB once lived before and found the complete DG9J book and learnt it

He also learnt that DGKB's origins was found Wah Shan sect, when it was only a small sect and unknown to the martial arts world. He was undisciplined and refused to follow the normal ways of martial arts training and so was kick out of the sect.

Who knows? Maybe Jin Yong will revise SOD and have FCY wear yellow clothes.

Maybe Yang Guo revised DG's kungfu and wrote it down somewhere. That's when a fortunate person happens to stumble upon this scroll containing DG's revised kungfu. It's possible, isn't it? I mean, YG 'was' able to create "Sad Palms". He should be able to create a new version of DG9J

I thought it was mentioned that DGQB relied on complex techniques to break sword stances (DG9J?) until later in life when he realized that no matter how ingenius the technique it was still a stance and so could still be broken and went on to simplicity beats all

    could be wrong though

Possibly it did not directly state that Dugu used complex techniques but in his youth he used sharp flexible weapons so i guess he was using some ingenius tehcniques to stay undefeatable.

One line that always bothered me was when YG stated that through speed from ingenius techniques(or massive inner power) you could overcome HIS. Doesnt that contradict the whole simplicity over superiorty thing?
wow..04-08....4 years just like that..time flies..

the thing is this is all theory. nothing is absolute. such as the saying soft overcome hard, but it doesn't always overcome hard.

simple have its own advantage, while complex have its own advantage. None is truely superior. kind of like Yin and Yang both are in balance and the same.

So DGQB's last stage should have contain both simple and complex moves, and other stuff in there.

I'm afraid I have to disagree. In wuxia novels, the higher levels of attainment always stress the superiority of simplicity over complexity; particularly in Gu Long novels.

I believe this is the case in YG's heavy sword technqiues. I see DG9J as something of an abberation in that here complexity is superior, but is probably just a reflection of the state of martial arts in SoD.

my theory on this is that dugu passed his dugu9swords onto someone who passed it on and so on until FQY before he went into seclusion. the ninth stance (anti-chi) might have been the iron sword with loads of internal energy method. dugu may not have came up with the torrent training then so his diciple may not have been able to use it fully. and when dugu train as a hermit with brother condor since the method is simple using chi and iron sword to force the oppenent it would have been easy for the condor to understand. but hey thats my theory

Actually come to think of it, DG9J is more simple than complex. It doen't exactly use complex moves. I mean how many times did we see LHC used one single, seemingly nonscensical move to break his opponents complicatedly advanced swordplay. Its simply a art of reading one's moves and exploit. Quite simple. The only difference between that and the Iron sword is that the Iron Sword is chi based and overwhelming with brute force whereas DG9J is technique-based and depends on the opponent's flaws.

Yup. LHC most often uses simple thrusts aimed at flaws.

Thus with numerous quick charging forwards and quick retreats, within moments, Mr. Paint had attacked with eleven moves and retreated eleven times. By then, the reflections from his sword had grown severely from the accelerated attacks and painted a layer of blue on his face. His beard and mustache also looked as though they were all standing on their ends from the tense atmosphere. Amid a loud roar from Mr. Paint, dozens of light circles, some big and some small, shot toward Linghu Chong at the same time. This was the very peak of perfection in his sword art, with which he had combined dozens of sword moves into one. Every single one out of the dozens of sword moves contained fierce killer techniques, and each move had several variations. Once combined, the complexity was simply unrivaled.

Resisting complexity with simplicity, Linghu Chong squatted slightly and prodded his sword tip up from under the dozens of light circles, pointing directly at Mr. Paint’s lower stomach. With another loud cry, Mr. Paint leapt backward with all his strength. “Bang!” he sat heavily on the stone table from the fall. Next, several clatters echoed as the wine cups on the stone table fell to the floor from the sudden shake and smashed to pieces.

when talking about 'simplicity over complexity' the idea is a simple and direct attack is harder to overcome then one that tries to lure you into giving an opening. most moves have a reason for beening complicated, it isn't that they wanted to be graceful and entertain people. during a fight, your opponent would defend himself while trying to find a weakness in your defense to attack you. most move have an element of defence as well as attack when striking. more attack, less defense. more defense, less attack. that's how it works. in order to break your opponents defese, you either need much greater power then him(which is not possible always) or you need to trick him into showing an opening. most moves contain real and fake moves in order to achieve this, which is the purpose of complexity. when you reach a high level of skills , you can see thru the fake moves(which can be ignored) and find the weakness in their defense easily, so there's no need for complex moves. you can attack the opening directly.

When FCY was a young lad he met a beggar man who remarked he has a spectacular inner light and would one day be a martial arts master. Originally the beggar man offered to sell him a top secret pugilistic manual called the buddha palm skill but FCY was not really into hitting people so the beggar man showed him an assortment of manuals and FCY chose DG9J.

That my friends is the true story of how FCY was able to tech LHC the DG9J skill.

    Cool Theory

    Here's the story:
On his journeys, FCY (who's drunk) stumbled into Dugu's valley and into Dugu's cave. However, being not as perceptible, didnt see Dugu's sword tomb on his first and only ("amazing grace": lucky) visit [Note: YG only saw the tomb on his 2nd visit.] FCY slept inside the Dugu cave as YG did, and during the night, Dugu's spirit visited him -- like the archangel visited Muhammad (Muslims). Dugu (arch-demon/angel/saint/god) expounded his famous DG9J treatise, promising FCY will reach enlightenment or formlessness after practicing this path. [In the end, FCY completed his DG9J and like other Zen followers, treated the path thus "Enlightenment/DG9J is dog sh*t." [Meaning, everything except the Self is unreal/false/etc.]"
    .
    Note:
Divine Condor died, so Dugu had to appear in spirit this time.

It is more likely is that YG on the 3rd Huashan tournament, left a copy of a synthesized DGKB's knowledge and manual, and it was found by FQY when he was sent to the Cliff of Contemplation in Huashan.

The problem is that there seems to be a discontinuity between YG's sword theory that he utilized and the sword theory of DG9J. YG focused on just bashing people with a giant sword using overwhelming internal energy while DG9J was concerned almost solely on techniques and exploiting flaws in the opponent's technique and then countering it. Doesn't really seem logical that the DG9J in XAJH was a result of YG's sword theories.
