What did Zhang Cui San teach him? Zhang Cui San died when he was very young and he didn't know any kongfu during that time.

He did teach ZWJ the basic Wudang inner energy technique (I can't remember the precise name of this technique), and ZWJ most likely abandoned this once he got hold of 9 Yang, but in a way ZCS did teach his son something albeit very little.

    You missed XZ's Shaolin master.

DY- The monks at the Celestial Dragon Temple taught him the simple steps to regulate 6MSJ. Plus his master is LQS!

Well, for Xu Zhu I consider shaolin contributed 0.01% to his martial arts, so certainly they cannot be counted as teachers for my purpose (although strictly speaking you would be correct). As for Duan Yu, I can consider 6M (although he seems to have learned it mostly by himself with luck), but LQS cannot count because she did not teach him directly.

Chen Jia Lo - Master Yuan
    Would that be Yuan Shixiao?

    Yes, that is correct.

ZCS taught him entry level techniques and stuff such as Cloud Stairs, which aren't inner energy techniques, and he used that at Brightness Peak.

That is probably what's lost in the translation I'm pretty sure in the translated (Indonesian) 1st edition of the novel that I read it mentioned Xie Xun recommending ZCS to teach ZWJ the basic Wudang inner energy technique, while he would teach ZWJ one or two Dragon Subduing Palms (of course this was changed in the 2nd edition of the novel).

Either way, it still confirms that ZCS taught ZWJ something

I don't have the book now, but I think XF's first teacher was not Xuan Bei but Xuan Ku.

The doctor, Hu Qingniu, did not teach Wuji martial arts.

Zhang Cuishan taught his son Wudang Long Fist, the first basic form of the Wudang martial arts system. He did not teach Wuji internal methods, nor did he taught him Cloud Stairs. But during the years Wuji spent on Wudang, he saw his uncles perform Cloud Stairs many times, that's why he could copy their moves on Brightness Peak.

Like CC said, Xiao Feng's teacher was Xuanku, not Xuanbei. And I think an abbot is the head of a monastery, so that title would only be used by Xuanci.

Hu Fei was given pointers by Zhao Banshan and Miao Renfeng, but strictly speaking they were not his teachers. Qin Naizhi taught Hu Fei Eight Extreme Boxing, and Ji Xiaofeng taught him Huaquan, as a martial arts knowledge exchange.

Wei Xiaobao was taught by eunuch Hai Dafu, Divine Dragon Sect leader Hong Antong and Su Quan, Shaolin monk Chengguan and One-Armed Nun Jiunan. Chen Jinnan was officially his teacher, but he never taught him any martial arts.

ok now that we have most of the significant teachers, let's rank the teachers of our beloeved heroes (here's my excuse of the day to compile another ranking!):

Undefeatable fighters: Tonglao, Li Qiushui, Xiaoyaozi
Peak fighters: Zhang Sanfeng, Zhou Botong, Hong Qigong
Elite fighters: Monks of celestial dragon temple, Reverend Xuanku
    First-class: Feng Qingyang, Xiao Longnu
Second-class: Wang Jiantong, Ma Yu, one-armed nun, Yue Buqun, Xie Yanke, Mu Renqing
Third class: Hong Antong, Giant Condor, Yuan Shixiao

    what do you think?

I think maybe the one armed nun shoud be placed as 3rd class. I dont' think she's more powerful than Hong Antong.

Mu Renqing was arguably the best fighter in Sword Stained in Royal Blood. Any reason why he should be ranked below Feng Qingyang?

For me, I think it is because

1st. He mastered DG9J. Maybe some other WahSan arts.
2nd. He lives during the time arround the mid of Ming Dynasty, nevertheless much more earlier then Master Mu. So, Martial Art Deteoration Theory kicks in(did I spell it right? )

    Swordsmanship’s Ultimate Ideal

Swordsmanship’s first achievement is the unify of man and sword. Once this unity is attained, even a blade of grass can be a weapon

The second achievement is when the sword exists in one's heart, when absent from one's hand. One can strike an enemy at 100 paces even with bare hands

Swordsmanship’s ultimate achievement is the absence of the sword in both hand and heart. The swordsman is at peace with the rest of the world
