Default Would AYF's counter for Dog Beating Stick Technique have worked in practice?

At the end of his final duel against North Beggar Hung 7 Gung, West Poison Au Yeung Fung devised a counter for the ultimate stroke of the Dog Beating Stick Technique, "No Dogs in the World." Hung 7 Gung was very impressed, and conceded to Au Yeung Fung that it was a great counter move.

Because both Au Yeung Fung and Hung 7 Gung were mortally wounded, however, AYF could only ask Yeung Gor to demonstrate the counter move for Hung 7 Gung to see. Au Yeung Fung couldn't really try it out against Hung 7 Gung in actual combat.

In practice, do you think that final counter move really would have worked if Au Yeung Fung and Hung 7 Gung (both still healthy) actually fought it out?

If he knew the move before hand, then yes it would have worked and H7G would be in trouble. They were specifically countering the moves and H7G admitted defeat. If the counters were linked up into an art, it would be similiar to Ancient Tomb's counter to QZ's sword play.

Strokewise, the only reason OYF would not have won in practice was that he took a very very long time (a day?) to figure out the method of breaking the stance - otherwise he would have officially won. It does not mean that he could beat H7G necessarily, but in terms of strokeplay he would have overcome "no dogs in the world". There was also an internal cultivation (or verbal portion - whatever "hou kuet" translates into) portion of the DBS which was not displayed during that duel, and that might have made the whole thing a bit different. Not to mention that H7G also had other skills like the Dragon-Subduing Palms and Carefree Travel to fall back on.
