Which actor was the best Linghu Chong?
Although i dislike Richie i think he fit the role quite well. Jackie Liu was great as well.
TristeCoeur on Lady Yang: Someone needs 2 tell her that when u want 2 save people from being killed, u need to hurry the hell up, not play bull#### music & dance around. Her mission failed big time
I picked Jackie Lui by default because the '96 SOD adaptation has gotten the most acclaim. Personally, I've never found an SOD adaptation that captured my imagination. Chow Yun Fat is my favorite all-time actor, but his performance as Ling Wu Chung in TVB's SMILING, PROUD WANDERER (the 1980s title of SOD) was one of his worst, most listless performances *ever*. You could tell that CYF was bored with TV work and couldn't wait to get his film career started in earnest. A lousy script didn't help, but CYF absolutely mailed in this performance.
I think Jacky Lui gave best performance where Li Ya Peng was my favorite. Still they are 2 fav. Ling Ho Chung of all time.
Too bad Jacky isn't as active as before.
Maybe this topic is better to be in General series comment? Not sure.

Jackie Liu was very famous back then when he performed the villain in the Yang's Family and Justice Bao (ATV version) and also his great performance in SOD. What has he been doing afterwards?Originally Posted by Yon
He recently appeared in the series with Shui Ling and one other series came out like a year ago. (forgot the title)
But he hasn't been in major project for many moons. Too bad.

Well, it was his performance in Justice Pao that landed him the role of Linghu Chong. I liked his performance alot. He just seemed more laid back and relaxed than LYP.
Sam Hui's performance was good too. Too bad he looked a bit too old for LHC, and then they replaced him with Jet Li the next time around.

I've only seen the Jet Li movie and the Richie Ren series so I'll pick Jet Li.
Jet Li!!!!!
He's the most handsome linghu chong but he's not the best....
Jackie lui is the most convincing one
"Jackie Liu was very famous back then when he performed the villain in the Yang's and Justice Bao "
I remember in that Yang series he played that Xixia king that who got dethroned because he was a cruel despot and then lost his memoryonce he regained hismemory he decided to regain his throne.Kinda reminds you a little of Ren Woxing trying to regain his leader position of the Sun moon sect in SOD 96 only this time Lui Chung Yin wasn' playing the role of someone who wanted to regain a powerful position.

I think Jackie Lui too, but LYP was pretty good too.
Richie Ren was absolutely terrible!!

Jackie Lui > all other LHC
Sam Hui is the best Linghu Chong IMO.
My favorite Linghu Chong will always be Jackie Lui, I picture him when I'm reading to story. Although I picture Anita Yuen as Ren Ying Ying. I just didn't like Fiona Leung. Li Ya Peng was also great as LHC, I like the chemistry between him and Ren Ying Ying (sorry don't know her name) more. Jet Li was also pretty good, the most handsome out of all of them. As for Richie Ren I don't think he was that bad. I like him better as LHC than YG. He was a bad YG (what were they think).
I thought Jacky Lui potrayed Lingwu Chong well, but Richie Ren's version was my favourite
No, not because of Richie, but because I like Anita Yuen

I'll bite you
Jimmy Wang Yu also acted as Ling HuChong in the 1978 Shaw Brother's movie adaptation of XAJH with the english title The Proud Youth
Still.. I like Sam Hui and Li YaPeng best, I've never seen the Jackie Lui's version.
