Default Which is the best Asian Wuxia/Kung Fu movie ever shown to the USA?

Just on the subject of Asian kung fu/wuixa films... Why don't we put it to the vote. Which was the best one ever shown across the USA and Western World.

I don't know about the USA, but it came out on the "arts films" Cinemas in Australia and was widely advertised. It recieved rave reviews - all except for people saying - what da f - since when did man learn to fly comments....

Another vote here for Dragon Inn. It's definately not Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon....
All that's needed to say have been said, why say anything more? The man is drunk, why stay any longer?....

I would say once upon a time in China the first one. And of course I would vote for Dragon Inn as well.

Hero, followed by Huang FeiHong I.

Actually I'd have to say that this poll should be basically about what's the best wuxia movie ever made, not about what's shown in the US. Because 99% of popular wuxia movies have been shown in the US in limited releases one time or another.

I voted for Hero eventhough the fighting scenes were not as exceptional as Crouching Tiger or Wong Fei Hung. I just thought that the cinematography was exceptional and the ways they fiddle with colors are truly amazing. This is a true piece of art and to classifies it as purely Wuxia or Martial Art/Kung Fu is quite contstricting.

I voted for 'Dragon Inn'- too bad it was made over 10 years ago and didn't get the wide release like 'Hero' did.

it's hard to compare kungfu films with wuxia films... i vote for Hero.

btw i am glad that Hero liked by people in the US, unlike in the asia, the chinese said this is a shit film.

ermm i think A Chinese Ghost Story is neither a wuxia nor kungfu film. however it was one of my favorites moives. It was film into series(40eps) in taiwan, and it is really a very nice drama... very nice, i love it. Ooo... and anyone knows the English name for Dongfang san xia? it's my favrite too.

Personally I don't like over-conscious movies that (to me at least) is blatantly trying hard to please film festivals. Hehe.

Well, I like Hero the best. It's very beautiful and philosophical.

“After the age of forty, I no longer relied on weaponry. Even bushes, trees, bamboo sticks or rocks call all be my swords. From then on, I achieved great progress and slowly reached the realm of overcoming the sword without a sword.”(Dugu Seeking-A-Loss)

If it is "wow I want more", then it has to be Once Upon a time in China.
