What's up with Golden Snake Swordsman's face?
I am betting this is explained in the book but in the series his face just transforms weirdly when he's fighting and no one ever comments on this, much less explains it.

i haven't seen the series, but i know in the novel that his face doesn't transform in the novel. it's just the series trying to be different.

I suppose it's simply meant to visually accentuate the whole "snake" thing and how totally badass Golden Snake swordsman is...;-)
I think it's there for effect only - so no explanation's really needed...:-)
I personally thought that this sort of thing didn't go very well with the overall realistic (well, relatively realistic) tone of the series - but that's a very minor complaint.
别想把黑暗放在我的面前
太阳已经生长在我心底
不再有封闭的畏惧
奔腾的灵魂飞上天际
太阳 我在这里
i had the same issue, they were bombarding the views with how Golden Snake Swordsman was realted to the snake...
but the film was one of the better one so no biggie.
Currently in love with Bae Suzy...for superficial reasons.
