Default Which Asian singers have the best singing tone?

We are not talking about singing skills or range here but singing tone.

Please put some of your thoughts (including examples, if possible) here....

Best tone is very subjective. So, I won't call any singer best. But, of all Asian singers, I like Deric Wan's voice best.

    Examples:

    http://youtube.com/watch?v=tWWL2zbP41g

His voice can always manage to pull my heartstring.

I think Dicky Cheung, Andy Hui (both having this similarity in the voice. But Dicky's voice is more sexy), Jonathan Lee, Sylvia Chang (gives a soothing feel), Sandy Lam, Nnadia Chan (slightly high in pitch tho).

Dave Wong, I must say, he has a really good tone but not my type of liking.

The late, great Roman Tam was among the very best.

I cannot believe you people could go six posts into this thread without naming him. Shame on you.

Well, I don't know about this Tam, haven't heard pieces from him so I can't judge. Instead, I'm reminded of another Tam. Alan Tam Wing Loon, that is. He has a good voice, IMO. And, how can she slipped my mind..... Anita Mui Yim Fong! Not only is she gorgeous, she has a good voice too!

We purposely leave him out for you to post. We know you love the 80's.

Who is the most fit to put in the name of the King of 80's TVB themesongs? Ken Cheng of course.

Another singing with a great tone. His name is Kelvin Tan Wei Lian (陈伟联). He's not loud, but his voice is very soothing and very relaxing to hear. Certainly heart melting.

My favourite voice belongs to 鄭中基 Ronald Cheng. He shows this superb magnetism when he quivers his voice; pure pleasure to hear. That guy is surely gifted.

Other "active" singers with very nice voices: Hacken Lee, Wong Lee Hom, Leo Ku, Eason Chan, Justin Lo. Jacky Cheung is a great singer but his voice doesn't really appeal to me.

Heck, I just realized there are many male singers with great voices that I can just list out, but not so for females. The only ones I can think of are Faye Wong and Sally Yeh, but they are not even active anymore.

Wah, such a rare find. It's very very rare that I can encounter someone outside of my family who didn't find Jacky Cheung's voice appaeling. Many of my friends are either a fan of his or think his really great. I know he's a very good singer, but, somehow, like you, his voice doesn't appeal to me either.

For female vocalist, I use to like Nadia's voice before she changed her singing technique. Now, her voice sound so thin, when it used to be so rich.

    Nadia Chan's voice

    pre singing technique change.
