I watched this series a long time ago, and i forgot what that familys name was xD
but at the end, almost everyone in the family had bad endings, like ron died, shirley is like handicaped? the father died, the other son suicide, and the mother went to jail and mentally insane, quite sad ending id say o.O but i think this series was okay ;D

If you ask me if the story was good, I'd have to say bravo! However, I do think the acting do need a bit of improving. The chemistry between Ron and Kate was lacking some emotion. They are able to give you the feeling that it is sweet, but at the same time it would make you think "So what?". They need some watery eyes and change the tones to their voice to make it more convincing. This goes for Steven and Bernice, TOO FAKE!
One of the female actors in this series who really surprised me was Michelle Yim, EXCELLENT job. She brought the very essence of the bitter-sweet villain in to it. Watching some of her actions and facial expressions gave her the grasp to tension among the series. Everytime something happens just from looking at her movements you can already expect something was going to happen. Again excellent job MIchelle, sent chills down my spine. Now do not hate me yet, I am not quite done yet. Overall I do think everyone did a good job considering how many actors there lacked experience in acting and there are so many gaps and holes for them to fill along the way in this career. So GOOD JOB everyone, Can't wait for another opportunity to watch these teams of actor in another drama.

This series is very fast-paced, especially the beginning. But i was quite shocked that ron ng died in the end.

It's stupid when most people died in this series.
Bernice and Steven did well in this series.

This is an interesting series that began particularly well. Though it became savage in the end, it never lost its rhythm as a thrilling crime-fighting drama. It deserves a solid sixteen out of twenty.

why has ron ng have to die? i hat eit when main chars. die. GOD! also did steven ma die too? gosh why can't ron ng type right, instead of dop type DOG! sigh.. well it's still a good series. It's about lws right? since the title is THE BRINK OF LAW well it doesnt seem like it's about laws, onlysteven ma is a laywer. Everyone should be s lawyer so it ties in the show.

i think that Bernice and Steven was great in this series. their chemistry was great and so was ron and kate. but i thought that Kate was a little childish in this series and she couldve been a bit better with her acting...eg..her crying skills.

To Bridget: Your review is abit biased. You just write about who you like and you put down the people that you don't like even if they were good. Everyone said that Shirley is good but you still put her down.

Not a blockbuster, but not too bad. Perhaps a poor assembly of actors and actresses. The plot is about childish as well - undercover cops? Hmm. The bright points? Steven Ma was okay in his role as a responsible son and brother. Michelle Yim, with her wealth of experience, filled the role of the main antagonist perfectly. For those weighing between watching this first, or Heart of Greed first... I suggest this first. Why? Save the better one for later.

OMG! this is the only series that Ron can act, but since his character doesn't REQUIRE any acting.

bernice was good(to me) in this series i think she did a good job steven was really good as well but he kinda disapointed me

ron disappointed me in this series. i just dont quite get use to the fact that he was a 'good' boy in this series instead of a 'bad' boy like in Men in Pain and RDOV. kate and ron's relationship was so bland! yet again, shirley managed to annoy me in this series. michelle was pretty good though, shes a great actress. the action was sorta slow, and it made me really sad in Brink of Law that so many people had to die in order for the truth to come out. also, i just dont see steven&bernice together as a couple. i would give this series a 2/5

i really enjoyed this series despite the female roles being quite disappointing..i dont know why but bernice has really disappointed me this year with her role in this, devil's desciple and the sunny chan one..
shirley was ok in this..loved her dress sense..but she didnt look evil enough..
and kate..well she's improving..
and i cant believe they killed off some of the best characters in the series!

LOL "ron's dead pan expression sucks": Ron acts like a walking zombie and is so overrated.Why can't people see that Kate Tsui is the worst actress to EVER fill our TVB screens?Shirley isn't bad (she is at least better than the other 2 women). Bernice JUST loses out to Kate as the worst actress to ever land a lead role, her love scenes with Steven Ma are so stiff and painful to watch. Steven Ma needs to go back to acting school, it's amazing that after so many years in the business, he STILL cannot act (take a look at his love scenes with bernice:they are awkward and amateurish).

Although i do not like sonjia Kwok I still think that she acts better that Kate Tsui. Minely crying scenes. I do not want to affend you but did u see Kate's crying scenes in the series? she had no tears!
Aisde from that disagreement your review is actually good becuase it gave an indept analysis that didnt reveal too much

This is a pretty typical TVB series with the exception of their new movement to have many of their characters die off. Some were really unexpected such as Jee Ko and Leo's fathers, which really moved me while those of the younger actors were missing the mark. Is this whole obsessive, compulsive gambling becoming a new theme in TVB? As much as I am frustrated with the gamblers, I'm glad they portray this new aspect into their lives which I otherwise would not have thought about.
Kate's acting wasn’t too bad for a new comer but I really wish she’ll rid of her straight cut fringe. Also, Shirley as a villain is quite refreshing from her consistent adorable roles. Bridget is right about Steven not having much chemistry with the other characters as he seems to always come short of reaching his full potential. Overall I would definitely recommend this series as it is one of the better recent ones.

I beg to differ. Kate needs to step up on her acting,and you're comparing her to Sonija,Anne,Toby and Mandy?! Kate is a newcomer and I think it's unfair to compare her to more experienced ones. Her chemistry with Ron was really bad,and Shirley wasn't that bad in her villain role. I think you already have a fixed perception of each actor/actress that affected your review's credibility. Steven,Shirley and Michelle did the best jobs.

I totally loved this show...and Bernice looked stunning as always. I just hated how the producers made Ron die at the end...it brok my heart ;( and hes too hot to be killed!
Everything was pretty good in terms of acting and plotline...except for one thing : KATE TSUI'S ACTING! holy sh*t she acts badder than my grandma...she totally destroyed the show and her chemistry with Ron is so so so bad. Not only cuz of her acting, but becuz Ron is too hot to be with her.
