Excellent fighting choreography, everything looks real and natural, the best among all mainland Jin Yong adaptations. No ridiculuos CGI or unnecessary special effects. Most of the casting are great; Ren Ying Ying, Yi Lin, Madam Ning are my favorite. The beginning is a bit slow and less captivating to me, I mean, who cares about the great fight when you don't have chance to emotionally care about the characters (yet)? Those who already know the story can just skip it and start from episode 10 or 15. Those who don't, be patient. Even though it seems a bit boring, actually every character are important and everything will be paid off later with exciting story and climax ending. Lack of proper music also make this series a little bit 'silent', especially with slow camera that sometimes trying to show scenery without conversation or action. But believe me the story, some characters and fighting scenes are a-must-see for the wuxia drama lovers especially Jin Yong fans.

Awesome scenery. Best fights without much special effects. First 9 episodes were VERY BORING! Story wasn't interesting in general. Background music was absolutely terrible throughout the entire series except for the final battle. Watch it if you like swords fights with hardly any special effects.

This version is by far the best ever. Great cast, great scenery, great everything. Flawless. Highly recommended for everyone and if you don't watch this series, you are so missing out on a great performance.

I never read the novels of Jin Yong but this version of Smiling Proud Wanderer made me not like the story. I prefer Jet Li's Swordsman 2 over this one. It's ok. But it made me sad...

this film is not the same as the original "The similing proud wanderer" by Louis Cha.

I liked this version of XAJH alot as well. Contrary to Zhang Jizhong's later JY adaptations, the cast, especially the leads (LYP and Xu Qing) in here is very strong and delivered excellent performances.
