Boys Over Flowers
Boys Over Flowers 2008

This serie is strangely addictive even though I know it's horrible. The first 6 episodes start out very promising. The conflicts, tension and the main love triangle (between Jandi, Jun Pyo and Ji Hoo) are nicely developed. I got immediately hooked. But episodes 7 to 12 are terribly slow and ridiculous at times. And starting with episode 13 till the end, the plot is a complete disaster. Lee Min Ho is smoking hot, but the script is so poorly written in the second half that it nearly destroyed the charm of the Jun Pyo character. Watch it if you want to check out the hype, but leave logic and reason behind you, cuz there are so many places where it doesn't make sense it's laughable.

Which Star Are You From
Which Star Are You From 2006

The ingredients in the plot have a lot of cliches but the flow of the story works well overall. The first two episodes are a bit slow, but it picks up quickly in episode three and I was hooked. It made me laugh hard many times and it's intriguing enough, so I would recommend watching it. But it's not a show that's worth re-watching like "1st Shop of Coffee Prince".

Full House
Full House 2004

This drama is so NOT worth the hype. There are some funny scenes, but that's about it. No significant story line. I don't feel much chemistry between Rain and Song Hye Kyo despite what's said out there. (If you want to know what is truly sizzling onscreen chemistry, check out the two leads in "First Shop of Coffee Prince".) This drama just drags, drags, and drags some more all the way to the end. If you still want to check it out due to the hype, make sure you have your remote control in your hand for fast forwarding. The theme song is great though, but the rest of the music in the CD is mostly variation melodies of the theme song.

Couple of Fantasy
Couple of Fantasy 2006

This is the last of the Hong sisters's trilogy (the other two prior ones are "Sassy Girl Chun Hyang" and "My Girl"). I watched "Couple of Fantasy" just because I really enjoyed the other two series. But this last one is just bad. It's not funny, and it doesn't have a interesting enough story line. After the first 3 or 4 episodes, the steam just dies; And the rest of the story is forgettable. Not worth your time.

The 1st Shop of Coffee Prince
The 1st Shop of Coffee Prince 2007

A great romantic comedy that will leave you in a good mood and uplifted. It has a good story line with a gradual build-up of intriguing love between the two leads, with some funny moments thrown in. Definitely among my top two Korean series in this category. Gong Yoo is such a great actor, and the chemistry between him and Yoon Eun Hye looks very real. All the supporting characters, especially the "princes" in the coffee shop, add to the charm of this cute drama. A must see for Korean drama fans or newbies. Also worth mentioning is the awesome soundtrack, which has a lazy breezy romantic tone throughout all three OST CDs.

My Girl
My Girl 2006

There are many good Korean TV series out there, but this one is my favorite. It's a good combination of comedy, melodrama and eye candy. Love all three Lee's. The soundtrack is also awesome. Get BOTH the series and the OST.

Lawyers 2005

Watched this a while ago. The female lead's character is quite weak, and so is the story line. But the soundtrack is great. The style of the songs are similar to Jay Chou's rap style.

The Bali Story
The Bali Story 2004

This story is painfully slow, but the producer did a good job in keeping the tension going from start to finish. I did a lot of fast forwarding every time it plays a long song. They do that two to three times in every episode. I am surprised to see such parental power over people in their late 20's. I mean, the whole tragedy would not have happened if not because of parental intervention. Jae Min's tyrant father has full control of his bank accounts, credit cards, what house he owns, whom he can marry, and how he should speak and behave. That doesn't sound realistic to me. Young Joo couldn't marry In wook when they first dated because her mother didn't approve. I also found it not convincing that Soo Jung is not able to find ANY job besides karaoke hostess and maid at an art gallery. These are all just elements used by the script writer to keep the story tragic. It's set up to be tragic from the beginning. If there was any confusion in the beginning who Soo Jung loves, it all becomes quite apparent during the last five episodes that she loves Jae Min. If not because of that, she would have accepted In Wook's proposal of marriage right away. If you really want to watch this series, make sure you have a good DVD player handy, because you might do a lot of fast forwarding with the long 20-episodes and that could age your DVD player very fast.

Save the Last Dance For Me
Save the Last Dance For Me 2004

This is a surprisingly good series. There is nothing new here (amnesia, car accidents, rich guy, poor girl, family oppositions). But it did really well in story telling. All the scenes are linked well together and kept me watching till the end. Ji Sung is very lovable both as a country boy and as a corporate executive, and Eugene is very sweet. They make a great onscreen couple. I agree that extra in ending is unnecessary. But overall, this series is highly recommended.

The Ghost Husband
The Ghost Husband 1994

TKL's review is so hilarious, especially the AWARD section. I enjoyed reading it.

My Girl
My Girl 2006

Love this series. Lee Da Hae is so adorable to watch. Just watching this serie would light up your day.

Hotelier 2001

After watching a number of k-dramas, this one is still at the top of my list.
