The Priceless Emotion

"Was it him?" He looked at me intensely. I avoided his eyes. I nodded. He shook his head but said nothing.

"Father, can you please read this book for me. Uncle Ma gave it to me today." Little Pao waved the book to his father. My husband looked at his son with a sad look in his eyes but his love for him showed in his eyes.

My husband carried Little Pao and they left the room. I could hear my son's voice from the room where I was.

At the dinner, he was quiet but his eyes fixed upon me. I felt uneasy with this atmosphere. I jumped whenever he made a slight movement, thinking that he might raise the question about my past.

Still, nothing was asked. I was about leave to room when he finally broke the silence. "Tell me now. I deserve to know everything about you."

I looked at my husband and nodded. We made our way to his office and sat separately. "You can begin now."

I stared outside the window trying to find my voice to tell my husband about my past. He walked towards to me and held my hands and said, "I promise that I will take things slowly. Little Pao is my son forever!"

I nodded and told him what happened to me three years before Little Pao was born.
