The Lesson In Love

She sat on the bench, staring at the children, playing together, laughing together and talking together. A smile appeared on her face as a man approached her. He was tall, had tanned skin and wore glasses.

"I thought you weren't going to come.." She said, still focusing on the children.

He sat beside her and stared at the children, "The client canceled the meeting, so I came here to look for you."

She didn't say anything.

"I've noticed that you always come here to the park, why?" He suddenly asked.

She stared at him, "I'm not going to answer that question."

He sighed, "Well alright then, let's go now, it's almost 8."

They both got up and headed towards his car. During the ride, both of them were silent, no one uttered a word.

"Sorry." Raymond suddenly said, breaking the silence.

"For what?" She asked.

"For neglecting you." He said.

She raised an eyebrow, "Neglecting me..?"

"I'm always at work, I never spend time with you." He said.

She didn't say anything.

"I'm sorry for being such a horrible boyfriend.." He apologized.

She didn't say anything but just closed her eyes.

Raymond silently sighed. Charmaine suddenly thought about the time they first met.

*Flashback*

[1 Year Ago]

"I'm so late for the job interview." Charmaine ran from her house and waited at the bus stop.

She looked around and saw no bus coming. She silently cursed herself for not setting up the alarm clock.

As she was pacing back and forth, she accidentally bumped into someone and she fell to the ground.

"I'm so sorry." She apologized as the person helped her up.

He looked at her, "It's okay."

As they began to talk, the bus came and they both went into the bus. She looked at her watch and she was 5 minutes late for the interview. She was beginning to feel nervous.

The guy saw the nervous look on her face and went up to her, "Are you okay?"

"Erm.. yeah, I'm just late for the job interview.." She said.

He grinned, "What job are you interviewing for?"

"Secretary in R&C company." She answered.

"Oh." He said.

10 minutes later the bus stopped near R&C Company.

"Gotta go, bye!" Charmaine quickly said and ran inside.

Raymond smiled to himself as he entered the company.

"Morning Mr. Lam." Someone greeted as he entered his office.

"Morning, Ella!" Raymond smiled, "Bring me the list of all the people here for the interview."

Ella nodded and left the room. 2 minutes later she came back with the list.

"Everyone was here today except for a girl named Charmaine Sheh. She came late today, which I find to be really unacceptable, so I told her to go back home." Ella said, "Also, I have some recommendations like Joyce Tang, Niki Chow, Fiona Sit and Theresa Fu."

Raymond gave the list back to Ella, "Hire Charmaine Sheh."

Ella stared at him, shocked, "Are you sure Mr. Lam?"

Raymond nodded.

*End of Flashback*

The car stopped in front of Charmaine's house.

"We're here!" Raymond said.

Charmaine opened her eyes, "Thanks."

He leaned forward and planted a kiss on her cheek, "Good night. Call me if you need me."

Charmaine smiled, "Alright, bye."

She left the car and went into her house.
