This is an amazing, amazing series. Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet's got nothing on this one. Based on an ancient Chinese legend, Butterfly Lovers is about two star-crossed lovers. In contrast to Romeo and Juliet, this Butterfly Lovers actually has a very deep and resounding plot with lots of drama. It is so much better than R&J. I have always thought of liang shan bo as a weak man who died of lovesickness, so stupid and worthless. However, Peter Ho has protrayed Liang Shan Po as a strong man who became a respected and well-liked magistrate. He died of illness. This series is worth watching and the songs are nice.
