I've always been a huge fan of samurai's and samurai fiction. The novel "Musashi" (written by Yoshikawa) remains my favorite novel of all time so it was only natural for me to stumble upon Rurouni Kenshin. Some Spoilers! Probably my favorite anime thus far, Rurouni Kenshin (English title: Samurai X), boasts one of the best storylines, character portrayals, and soundtracks. This Anime never gets old, it was my favorite anime back when it was first shown in my country, and it is still my favorite anime to this day despite all the other anime series I've seen. Good character variety and development, Top notch animation (although the OAV's fight scenes are much better), Perfectly good story and subplots, Great Music... It could almost be called the perfect anime. I was disappointed at the later arcs, though (namely after the Shishio saga) since it was not based on the manga and are therefore only average in terms of story (although it does show how western swordfighting can match Japanese Kendo - thus being realistic in some sense, but the Feng Shui arc is just B.S. in my opinion). Still an excellent anime that one shouldn't miss.
