Saw it. Rather entertaining fighting scenes, but no, it ain't as good as Shaolin Soccerm and it's not really one of Stephen Chow's best films out there. But the fighting scenes are rather awesome.

And the Eva Hung Sheng Yi has so little scenes in there... even worse than being a female character in a Jackie Chan movie...
Nah. Female characters in Jackie Chan films are often 'accidentally groped' by Jackie himself.

any idea how this huang Sheng Yi got picked to act in this movie? she looks like a mix of Annie Wen Song Xian and Cecilia Cheung and liu Yi Fei.
No idea. Stephen Chow tends to look for new actresses for the female roles in his movies. He's the guy who kinda discovered Cecilia Cheung anyway.

haha! my friends met Huang Sheng-Yi in Toronto last september when it premiered in Toronto, they told me that she says how did alot of scenes and so forth, and when you see the movie, she's only there for like...a few minutes.
Then you gotta buy Kungfu Hustle : Extended Version, and look for deleted scenesOriginally Posted by tinlunlau
How well did this movie did compared to Shaolin Soccer?
Shaolin Soccer is better. Better characterization and plot.Originally Posted by Han Solo

Do you remember who plays the Beast (Top Killer) in the movie ?
I remembered him played several TV serials on the 70s and 80s..can't remember his name though.
Got it... He's Bruce Leung Siu Leung, played as Chen Chen in "Legendary Fok 82", no wonder he looks so familiar...

Yep, it's not as good as shaolin soccer plot and characterization wise...
and it's also less funny ...
but the fight scenes are spectacular.and entertaining despite being very FAKE and cartoonish at times..(the stepping on the leg part for instance)
I've heard some really good things about this film, but you guys don't seem to like it that much. Guess I'll have to see it for myself.
Read my posts carefully. It's not that I don't like it, it's just that it ain't as good as Shaolin Soccer.

Oh come on, this is the holiday season. You don't need to be so picky.Originally Posted by Eliar Swiftfire

I enjoyed it immensely, saw it twice in two days even.
But it just ain't as good. Maybe cos' a couple of days before that, I was watching my old Stephen Chow DVDs. HIs version of Journey to The West rocks.

well, from what i gathered, on its opening night, Kung Fu Hustle made twice as much money as compared to Shaolin Soccer's opening night.
$4m in one night.
30+ million in SIX days! Top-grossing movie of the year already. Will it beat Shaolin Soccer's 60 million?
Whoa. It's shattering box-office records everywhere.
