First of all: easy mistake to make because it's true, which means it really isn't a mistake to begin with.

Kansas went 12-4 in the Big 12, OU went 12-4 as well.

It's known as regular season co-champs, which is what happens when 2 teams end up having the exact same record in conference. OU had the #1 seed in the Big 12 tourney over Kansas on the virtue of their better overall record (by 1/2 game). But they shared the regular season championship of the Big 12. And since I specifically said "conference regular season champions," I don't see where I've made a mistake.

How easy of a mistake is it to think that just because Kansas was a #2 seed in their conference tournament they weren't a regular season champions of their conferece? Especially considering this t-shirt has been particularly popular amongst Kansas fans these last couple of weeks:

    http://store.fansonly.com/marketplac...9&dept_id=3324

I don't know. Supposedly Kansas gets alot of coverage so you wouldn't think it's an easy mistake.

    http://big12sports.collegesports.com...030605aah.html

I didn't make any predications but neither did i criticized other people's predictions or wait until after the game is over to say "that's why" either.
No, you didn't. I did. And I was right. Apparently, I knew what I was talking about.

You seem to have your definition of a "good run" as the number of wins in a row. But it's obvious that's not what i meant, since we both know UW and NCst didn't win their conferenc tourney. NCSt had a better run because they've just beaten WF a #2 seed, lost to Duke a #1 seed, and beaten UConn a #2 seed. UW hasn't won against a ranked team since January. Basically it's what you said about playing against quality teams.
Yeah, but then you went and said that how a team's conference does doesn't affect how they perform. So what does it matter how Duke and WF were seeded? Or are you saying there's something more about quality opponent there than you originally intended? Or did you mean to contradict your argument on purpose?

Or are you saying that you think it's more important to look at how a team is seeded in the tourney by some panel than how they have done in the tourney? Because how good a team is hypothetically is somehow more important than how they actually played? But you said below that seeds are more of "suggestions" than anything. So what does it matter if NCState beat a #2 seeded WF if that seed are just a "suggestion"?

Where did you give out a couple of reasons why WU would win before the game?

Those aren't reasons, they're just another ranking that doesn't say anything beyond what they're seeded, suggestions if you will. If anything you're the one who said NCSt's princeton offense should work. Of course i'll give credit to UW for winning but like the las vegas people i can't give them the same that i would if NCst won.
Do I really have to take that argument through a step by step explanation? Seeing as to how UW went 11-5 in the Big Ten and finished 3rd in the Big 10 and NCState went 7-9 and finished sixth in the ACC. I think it says less about where they were "seeded" than about how they have played this entire year. To borrow a phrase from Bill Parcells, you are what your record tells you. UW is a 11-5 team in the Big 10, NCState is a 7-9 team in the ACC. You can make the argument that the ACC is so much stronger than the Big 10 that a 7-9 record in the ACC is as good as a 11-5 record in the Big 10. But seeing as how both conferences got 3 teams into the Sweet 16, you really can't make that argument. Which was my argument when I posted that quote you had of mine. And after last night, you really can't make that argument anymore. Which was why I posted the scores to underscore how my original point was emphasized and driven home even more.

    That is why. Any questions?

Also, I said Princeton's offense is gimmicky enough to work in tourneys. And hey, check it out, they outperformed themselves and beat UConn. It did work. Those guys got further than they should. Doesn't mean they should go further, doesn't mean it will work again.

And you really need to start looking beyond what I gave you for why NCState should win. Since I was sure enough about NCState losing to actually come out for UW. BTW, I still do think the ACC is better than the Big 10. But strong enough to make me think that a team that went 7-9 in the ACC should win over a team that went 11-5 in the Big 10?

As for the rest i'm going to stay quiet and wait for the games to be over. I'll be ready with my "i told you so" speech if it turns out my way and continue to be quiet otherwise. Go heels!
Yeah, but you didn't make any predictions to be "I told you so" about....

Other than the Heels. And at this point even I would pick them. So there's not much of an "I told you so" there. Of course... if anyone is gutsy enough to pick Wisconsin now...

Yeah, I bet. They did pretty much everything they could to give the game away. With all their talent UNC should win the whole thing. But sometimes they just play like they rather just give it away instead. Sometimes I don't get that team at all...

I can't believe what the hell Arizona did in the game against Illinois just now. That was horrible clock management. They had 12 seconds left to go with the ball and that was more than enough time to get a good look at the basket and set up the offense. Pissed me off. Oh well I'm looking foward to the next Illinois-Louisville game. Just wanted Arizona to win though and they should have with all that time that was left on the clock.

Heh, I nearly jumped out of my skin when Williams hit that shot to tie it, what a great game. Arizona got passive and stopped really attacking when they had that 14 point lead and really weren't themselves in the OT, Stoudamire got worked into the ground. Pity, they were better most most of the game. But credit to Illinois for draining all those clutch shots. Besides, you picked Illinois didn't ya?

Yeah, but I was rooting for Arizona. I don't like the Illini for some reason. I hope Louisville beats them. I wonder who's brave enough in here to say Wisc is going to beat UNC? I say Louisville is going to upset Illini. Call me crazy but I say it's gonna' happen.

For tomorrow's games I'll pick. I'm hoping for a clash between Wildcats and the TarHeels.

    • UNC vs Wisconsin
      Michigan State vs Kentucky

You got me, I'm not brave enough to pick against you there. Though I'll be pulling for upsets in both games. Michigan State has a pretty good chance against UK because they are deep and big. If UNC shows up, they should win, but if they play the way they played against Villinova, they will lose. As I said before, I don't get that team...

There were a couple of plays that made me nearly jumped out of my skin. The steal (and layup) by Luther Head, The steal (and layup) by Dee Brown, The shot by Deron Williams, the errant throw by Dee Brown, giving Stoudamire one last shot to win. Luckily it was blocked by Head, a very heads up defensive play. It was a great game, though it could've been a bit smoother finish than to throw up a prayer. They had enough time to get a good play in, but gotta credit that to the Illini defense.

But yea, Arizona gave that game away as much as Illinois fought their way back in. Passive Arizona offense + Aggressive Illinois defense = Final Four birth. (For Illinois)

I'm not living in Illinois, so it takes much more to make me jump out of my skin than it takes for you.

Now... come the UNC-UW game... I'll be on the other side.

Yeah too bad for Arizona. Anyways Heels moved on to the final four and will most likely beat Kentucky or Michcigan State. It really doesn't matter who they play in the final four; most likely they'll ending it anyways. And as for the champinship game? Illinois or Louisville = no problem.

No problem just like Villinova and Wisconsin was no problem too huh? With the talent on UNC, they should win those games easily, but... they like to make it harder on themselves by spotting the other team effort and passion.

Brings more drama to the game. Anyways was it me or were the announcers really annoying? I mean it made me want to turn the volume down with all the expressions he made through his voice and all of his wierd tones that he was using. They should have gotten someone better to commentate the Syracuse region. I hated listening to those two guys for these past two games.

Yeah, they should have gotten Dookie V so he can perform fellatio on Roy Williams live on air.

Actually, Rafferty and what's his name has been pretty fair throughout the tourney, so no complaints from me.

Did you watch the Michigan St. and Kentucky game? I was hoping Kentucky would win. That 3-pointer by Sparks was one of the best plays I've seen in the tournament so far. Great game, but I didn't like the way Kentucky's backcourt didn't penetrate and just stood outside the permiter like statues. It looked like they basically handed the game to the Spartans towards the end. They poorly executed most of their plays in the overtimes.

It happens, both teams were dead tired by OT, not to mention the 2nd one. Overally, fitting end to the weekend of games. My only complaint is that I wish UW would have at least taken UNC to OT as well to make it a perfecta! (and maybe win it too). But oh well, I expected a blow out and they made me proud with how hard they fought, not much to really whine about there.

Omg i watched that game, and like everyone at my dads Bar/Restraunt , it was packed and like when Sparks made that 3 pointer everyone was like Screeamin and Yellin so loud and hAppy but when Michigan won during the 2nd over time, everyone was like So pissed off, and this guy lost about like 1000 at the casino cause he bet on Kentucky... i felt bad for him

Oh well that's too bad for him. I wouldn't feel sorry for anyone who bet that kind of money knowing that they're taking a risk of losing it. Is it me or is it that the entire nation seems to hate UNC right now? That's how I feel. Everywhere I go it's (radio shows, message boards, etc.)"F*#$ the Heels, they suck, blah blah blah." It'd be a great story if we win the title this year. Coming from an 8-20 season to champs. Anways here are my picks for this Saturday.

    • UNC vs Michicgan St.
      Illinois vs Louisville

Anyone bold enough to pick MSU over Heels?

Nobody ever liked UNC to begin with anyways.

There would be no "great story" for UNC to win it either, since it's just another case of the team with the most talent winning. I mean, God forbid UNC should under perform so bad that they end up with a 8-20 record.

And, sure, why not. I'll pick Michigan St. over UNC for the sake of... no reason whatsoever. There's no real reason why they should win it, so maybe I'll get a bigger "I told you so" out of it.

I'll just go with the trend and go against you and pick Illinois over Louisville as well.

Yeah I just hope Roy Williams can pull something out of his a**. Unlike the other times he went to the Final Four (just look at his history with Kansas). I have to admit that Heels haven't played great defense in the tournament so far. Just enough to get by. I also have to admit that MSU is playing with more character than UNC is too. Also Illinois seems to have more of a poise. I don't know, maybe I'm just worried that we'll get screwed over this next game or the championship game (paranoia).
