Wuxia and Sex

Do you guys ever wonder how the Wuxia characters learn about the birds and the bees? It doesn't seem like they ever did but somehow knows all about it, from sex to giving birth. I don't think they teach them at school, since the focus is mostly on writing and literature. Even if they did, most of the heroes never went to school. Could they have learned it from their parents? Well, I highly doubt it. Can anyone picture WYS talking to Wong Yung about sex? And most heroes don't even have parents. So where else could they have learn about it? The brothels perhaps? I assume some characters esp villains did learn it that way. But heroes? Nah they don't visit those slums. And there are no such thing as porn either. One other possibility is they learn it from their peers, perhaps during whine drinking night. Even though this is a logical possibility, it doesn't set well with me, thinking these heroes are talking about sex. Some heroes maybe, but someone like Gwok Jing, no way. In most cases, the heroes are too busy trying to survive, learning their skills, and fighting villains to discover about sex. But we know they all know about it. So I ask how do they know?

Let's try and examine our favorite characters and see how they could have learn about it. I'll start...

Yeung Gor -- I think YG has no problem visiting a brothel for the sake of curiousity. But would never spend time in there. He probably peak from a window and saw people doing it. This probably occur sometime after he left Ancient Tomb.

Siu Long Lui - I believe when Siu Long Lui was given the Virgin Mark, it probably peak her curiousity on what it means. She probably asked Grandma Sun or Lee Mok So. One of them perhaps might have explain about sex to her. This is a bit of a stretch but I dont see any other explaination since she grew up in the Ancient Tomb and after her rape seems to know exactly what happen and that it's a intimate act between husband and wife.

Okay, let me hear what you guys can come up with regards to your favorite characters' knowledge of the birds and the bees.

Xiao Feng - probably didnt' know much about it because I think the novel said that he always felt uncomfortable around woman. Probably never planned to get marry or anything prior hooking up with Ah Zhu.

Out of curiosity I wondered how much did his being uncomfortable or not being around woman helped him generate chi so fast considering for example: Z3F's maintenance of his virginity was a key factor in him refining his chi, Shi Po Tian was said to able to practice his extreme Yin and Yang kungfu because he did not have a sexual thought in his mind at all, and WCY's Shian Tian Gong was capable of being practiced only if the practitioner did not have women on his mind.

Duan Yu - probably the way Adam from the bible learned about it, seeing nudity and just knowign what to do. Duan Yu probably saw nudity for the first time and that cave - the naked statue and naked drawings of his Goddess.


Xu Zhu - this one is a bit of an anomaly considering he grew up in Shaolin and considering that monks were all suppose to maintain celibacy..... unless he somehow managed to get a peek of Xuan Ci and evil number 2, whom ironically were....

Wuxia heroes always have lots of babes going after them so the learning part is dead easy. With the exception of Yang Guo breaking his duck at 36, the rest seem to do fine.

Yea, this one is difficult. I don't think that's how he discover it but obviously he does know about it. XZ isn't as innocent as one thinks..

One of my challenge here is to pick your favorite characters and imagine how they cold possibly learn about it base on their personality and the life they lead.

I actually wonder now.... always questioned why Guo Jing's progression in martial arts seemingly tapered off between LOCH and ROCH ( he went from like 1% of the greats inner power at the pre 9 yin and then to about 70% of the greats in inner power in 2 years at end of LOCH, but then to 100% equal the greats after 10 years of 9 yin)

So can we say that ZWJ and Yang Guo's martial arts probably would not progress much after HSDS and ROCH???????

We have to also take into account GJ spend alot of time defending the country. Sex can slow one's progress. But other factors are also important. ZWJ and YG could still progress significantly depends if they continue to train diligently. YG and SLN not only are lovers but they both are teacher and student and share a unique bond of praticing and learning martial arts together. So YG probably will continue to improve after ROCH. However ZWJ might be in the same shoe as GJ.

Actually, they should all be pretty familiar with human anatomy having the knowledge of pressure points, meridians, etc. So they should know what every body part is supposed to do. Only problem is, they might not be familiar with intimacy and feelings they get during close encounters with the opposite sex. But if they were to actually have sex, they would know what goes where.
