6-2 in the last game? Hmm...I'm surprised, I would have thought that Nadal would toughed it out til the end. But, yeah - Nadal did pushed Federer quite far. I must admit that he's getting a heck lot better on grass (or is it just Federer not up to his best?) - those who watched the match, pls comment.

Federer's aces and Nadal's errors at the end really put Federer on top, but by the score you couldn't tell, it was a pretty close match.
they do it on purpose, it suppose to intense the person (like in martial art such as karate where they grunt on a hit, people call that mental intimidation). In tennis it serve another purpose, they do it so the opponent can't hear the sound the ball hit the racket, so they don't know how hard or the spin on the ball when it make contact with just sounds. BTW i love sharapova when she go "ahhh" "uggg" i wonder why she never go "goDDDD" "yeah babyYYYYYYYY" hahah.
BTW i rather see nadal wins, he's more fun to watch where he run around like a crazy monkey on crack, federer is kindda boring, he play text book tennis with monster power.

First of all, congratulation to Federer. Second, it's a very very close match , and I'm definetly happy to see they both played extremely well. Nadal definetly improved on his serves, overall his game is improving vastly from last year. I hope Nadal will have a better summer with the hard-court season and the same goes for American players like Roddick and Blakes. Also, you can't denied that Nadal have a better chance winning this match-up than Federer did at the French.

i think it was federer not at his best during rallies and nadal was playing well during rallies.. federer was doing lots of aces while nadal only have like one or two.. it sort of evens out in a way... but federer did play well in the last match..!
u poor thing.... when i first saw the avatar, it didn't look too bad..
so are u gonna record a song for 0-0-0??
btw, what did everyone think about the hawk eye technology?? to me, it's like a pain in the ***.. lol all because it was picking on fed last night.. i wonder if it is actually accurate cos i tot most of the ball were out and then the stupid hawkeye says it's in.. afterall it's just computer generated image.. can't they come up with something better, using real images perhaps.. makes it much more convincing

YAY, Federer WON!!!!~
i only had time to watch the first set. I went under the assumption that once Federer won the first set, it was pretty likely he would win, even though i thought he was playing pretty badly. I'm really glad he came through though. I think it would have been way too tough if he lost this coming straight out of the French open.
i hate the fact that the australian open is the only one in a decent time zone for me.
they had hawk eye at the australian open and i thought it was quite funny because at first federer didn't seem to know what to challenge and challenged for the heck of it. I distinctly remember one ball which was out by A LOT so that when hawkeye started to zoom in from the line, the ball disappeared from sight and the audience started laughing (quietly). I also remember there was one challenge where the ball on hawkeye said "in" whereas the visual identified it as out.
but i think it's good technology. safin-federer match at the aus open where he lost in the last set, if hawkeye had been there, federer would have been able to challenge and i think it was a pretty critical moment at the end of the 5th set.
lunar, i distinctly remember you telling me that you never lost sports bets.
actually, if you had bet nadal would get to the finals, i think quite a few of the members here would have bet against that and then we'd all have lost. i certainly wasn't expecting nadal to go through again.
well in the fourth set.. federer was reli angry because he thinks the ball is out, yet the hawkeye says it's in (and this one really pisses him off because this set him back to 0-4 against Nadal).. from the video replay, it's hard to see as well.. he actually went up to the umpire and complained.. from the news, it says he demanded that thing to be shut off.. it's just very unlucky for him cos Nadal's challenging all the time and most of the time the hawkeye thing says it's in so i guess he eventually loses it.. this is the first time i see the hawkeye thing in place and it has definitely gave me a bad impression.. i just think those people shud come up with better technology than this

That was a good final. Nadal surprised me a bit, he's added more variety to his play since last year and is also more attacking but still not enough to beat Fed. Fed was pretty awesome in the last set saving all those break points and then breaking Nadal's serve, you could see Nadal was broken after all that. Will be interesting to see how Nadal does on the faster hard courts later on in the year. He has never been beyond the quarters of US and Aus open.
Hawkeye has been pretty successful and if it weren't, it would not have been adopted by all the slams. I have yet to see a call by Hawkeye where it was completely wrong. That call in the fourth set was very marginal, it could of been out or in. What really made Federer mad about that call was that it seemed like Nadal was just challenging the call for the sake of slowing the game down and when the call went against him, he kinda just lost his cool. It was the first time I've seen him like that. At the end of the that game, he said something like, '$hit man, its killing me out there (referring to Hawkeye)..., can you turn it off' to the umpire. Fed has never liked Hawkeye and I guess he won't be changing his mind anytime soon.
I'm worse at what I do best
And for this gift I feel blessed
i was watching the match while at the gym, and all the ppl whose eyes were glued to the tv were rooting for federer. i wonder why.

Congrats to Federer for the win; he beat Bjorn Borg's record of five consecutive wins at Wimbledon!
Oh, and a reminder for everyone in Aus, Mark Philippoussis' Age of Love is on Thursday. It'll be interesting seeing his reaction to the age of some of the ladies!
god i hate that guy (philippoussis, not federer)
guess who beat him in wimbledon final?
@lunar: i honestly would have bet against nadal getting to the finals and against a 5 set match.
hawkeye worked really well at the australian open. In Federer's match against Roddick, federer had 100% of his challenges correct, although the match was so one sided it didnt' really matter.
i'm actually really impressed by how much better nadal seems on grass. I never thought of him as merely a clay court player, but i never thought he'd do exceptionally well on the surface.
Wimbledon's over, NOOOO! Now what'll I do up late in the night?
