I think it's required that JY wrote GJ denying the relationship. GJ is someone who follows the society rules strickly, therefore GJ has to deny the relationship because of the difference in bai fun or generation. If JY had wrote that GJ had accepted the relationship, then ROCH's goodness would serioulsy go down. Because this way, the way the people acted wouldn't have matched the way the society was.
